Pearl Perch Takeaway — Restaurant in Armidale

In the past, I would always end up sick when eating at pearl perch because of the huge amount of oil in the food. So I stopped buying from there. I decided recently to give them another try. While waiting for my order, clean fat, and I say fat because it looked like being a solid fat, clean from a bucket thingy was being dug out and added to the dirty fat in the fryer. One would think it would be clean oil instead of top up on top of the old fat. Anyway, got home and my burger patty was raw. Too raw to eat, and my hesitation to buy from there again proved me right. Within half hour of eating the very greasy potato scallop, my friend and myself felt very sick. The taste of the dirty fat overpowers the food. The grease just sits in your stomach. I think the problem is the oil/fat is not changed often enough. Won't go back. Learnt my lesson too many times. Not worth...

I've shopped here for well over 5 years. The food is alright, made better by the quantity you get for the price. However it can be assumed that the company policy is for the staff to treat customers like an unwanted chore. Staff refuse to communicate calmly whenever slightly inconvenienced and this is made far worse if they make a mistake they have to rectify. Be prepared for the staff to be dismissive, rude, and impaitent.

As an aside, do not buy the fish from this place as it will likely be green and make you sick as a few of my friends have experienced. The staff will ignore you if this issue is raised.

Used to love this place and used to go there a lot I’ve slowed since the attendant seemed to hurl the salt shaker at me after my son asked for more. I visited a few weeks later this time I was asked to be more polite when asking for a second bag when I did eventually draw the courage for a please explain regarding the salt shaker it was laughed off with claims that day they were busy. Next time I will be more polite this place is too good I’ve not had an eatery within 500km that offers the same value for money with a good serve of oversized potato chips great gravy great coffee and such succulent...
