Kalamia Hotel — Restaurant in Ayr

My friend Big Tez and I recently visited The Kalimia Hotel for breakfast after a lively night out that involved a few bottles of Sierra Tequila. Despite our rather unconventional timing, we were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff, who went out of their way to accommodate our request for a well-done steak in the early hours of the morning.

The ambiance of The Kalimia Hotel was inviting and comfortable, making it the perfect spot to unwind after our eventful night. The steak was cooked to perfection – exactly as we requested – and it was one of the best we’ve had in a long time. The meal was complemented by the excellent service provided by the attentive staff, who remained professional and courteous throughout our visit.

I would like to extend our sincere apologies to the staff for Big Tez’s enthusiastic use of the black pepper – he managed to go through three shakers! Despite this, the team handled the situation with grace and good humor, ensuring that our dining experience remained pleasant.

After travelling 14+ hours, we came across this pub on a google search. The food was absolutely amazing however the service definitely let's it down!! My husband went up and placed an order for a garlic bread, 2 mains and 1 kids meal. The order was messed up so he went back over the order before paying. The kid's meal came out followed by our meals (my husband's was nearly dropped in his lap) but there was no garlic bread, so we asked about it. The lady went back in to ask and a man came out stating 'I have your receipt, no garlic bread was ordered and the rule states no order, no garlic bread, however I can take an order for it and you can pay for it'. Absolutely shocking! We weren't after a free garlic bread, we wanted the garlic bread we have ordered but after this service decided to eat our meals and leave. This was hands down the worst meal I have ever purchased. I had burger and chips which arrived raw!! I took it back and asked for just the burger to be cooked again ( no bun as it had too much relish on) and for the fries to be unsalted. After another half hour wait it came out burnt to a cinder ( yes it was certainly cooked) dry as old leather with chips containing more salt than the Atlantic Ocean. Meanwhile my husband had a chicken burger which came with more assorted relishes than the local delicatessen stocks and chips equally as salty as mine. Of course he had to eat alone as my lunch was being re made and we both ended up leaving our meals. I suggest they change chefs if the one they have can’t cook better than this.
