I really dislike giving bad reviews. However, I have held off giving this review previously in the hope it would get better... but it is the same each time I go in there. A year ago, I went in to purchase a gift card from a collection we had put together for a friend to be told I had to pay cash. Luckily, I had the cash in my account to be able to do that, but what if I didn't, even then, the banks and access to depositing cash were limited. Also, cash is a legal tender. On mothers Day, I went in store to order as the first time back since that day a year ago. I understand that fast food places get busy. However, Nandos is also a restaurant you can go dine in at. I would have ordered online, except my son had a voucher that could only be redeemed in a restaurant. When I got there, I was told the register needed to be reset, and some arm gestures were made in the direction of QR codes, As I was told, "You have to order online". I explained to the waitress as she was walking away that I had a voucher and it could be only redeemed instore. She replied "well you'll have to come back another time"...
Now don't get me wrong, technology can be difficult and it goes offline etc etc, however, I am certain that the (I assume manager who waived his arms around and said it needed resetting) could have stopped for the minute he did actually stop for once he realised he was being very unprofessional to the customers- 4 more come in after, and 1 before me to also order in store. This legit did not take more than a few minutes to do, and not one person went without food whilst he stopped packing orders into the bags. There was plenty of staff on, and he could have even swapped out with the waitress (front of shop lady) who couldn't do anything because there was no register for her to press buttons on.
I did get to order in person, however the lack of customer service and the way it was just flicked off with an gestures like the customer didn't matter, and to be told to come back another time because "it's out of their control" is my reason for the low star review.
Watching the food just be dropped into the bags without care added to the lack of atmosphere whilst we waited.
I fully respect fast food/restaurant staff, and that nights on weekends and special occasions are busy. I also worked in the industry and know plenty of people who still do, and being polite and treating a customer with kindness goes a long way. I may of been capable of ordering online had I of had to, however not everyone can and that was clear by the people who needed support which wasn't given to them, when directed to...
Read moreThis was, without a doubt, the worst experience I've ever had at a nandos, and I've been to some pretty divey nandos overseas.
"Am having", actually - I'm writing this in the booth, because i couldn't wait till we got to the car.
So, in order.
We arrived to discover that they now use a QR code, sending you to a website, where you order "from your table".
Except, we want a whole chicken, basted half hot and half mild, cut into eighths.
Back to the counter.
"Don't worry sir, just put it in the notes, we read them and we'll do it for you."
Ok.
Chicken comes out.
All mild, in quarters 🤦🏾♂️
Send it back.
"Sorry sir, we're not allowed to cut it into eighths anymore, orders from head office."
Um, so you don't cut it at all?
"Oh, no, we cut it into quarters, but not eighths."
But i just had it cut into eighths, last week, at another nandos.
"Orders, head office, sir. You're welcome to take a (butter) knife and cut it yourself."
Ok.
Chicken comes out.
Half mild, half LEMON AND HERB 🤦🏾♂️
Send it back.
Finally, half hot, half mild, in quarters...which i then attacked with a butter knife, like some sort of half-hearted psycho.
So, the experience was pretty much 0 stars.
Why 2 stars then, you ask?
Well, the young man who served us was ultra sincere, friendly, and clearly trying to do his job.
He deserved a star.
And, i have to be honest, the chicken was delicious.
Damn you nandos, angry as i am, i can't deny that your chicken is finger lickin' good.
So, another star.
That said, i don't think I'll ever go back to baldivis (which is incredibly sad, as this has been our family nandos for longer than i can remember - we even have a favourite booth), and if i have a similar experience at any other nandos again, great chicken or no, I'll be calling the relationship quits.
The chicken is good, but it's...
Read moreHad a terrible experience tonight. My adult son and daughter and I went to get takeaway with each of them having a whole marinated chicken, while I ordered a Perinaise classic chicken burger with bacon and cheese, a small chips and a coke. My son brought my food out to the car so I could eat the food hot while they waited for their chickens. Except it wasn't hot. They put in a chicken fillet and bacon which were both cold into a cold bun with cold salad. I knew it was cold before I even unwrapped it. I had one small bite and then phoned my son to come back and get the cold burger so they could make a fresh one. He came back with an identical cold burger with a very small chicken fillet and bacon that had both been microwaved. It was just another cold burger with microwaved meat. I had just a few bites and the burger literally fell apart in my lap. There was absolutely no care given at all. Plus the chips were floury, tasteless and inedible. I spent over $25 for a meal which was promptly thrown in the bin. And the sad part is that this has happened before, on several occasions. I'd always say never again but we'd end up going back. But I for one won't be eating there ever again. Plus they don't use free range chicken so the chicken fillets are always, dry, stringy and chewy. My son and daughter said their chicken was really dry and chewy as well. You'd think that a restaurant that specialises in chicken, would make sure it's quality is up to scratch. But I've bought food from this outlet a few times and it's always the same. Poor quality ingredients and no care given with the presentation...
