I had a pretty disappointing experience at Jugni, and unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. To start with, we ordered two tap beers, and it took about 15 minutes for them to arrive, which felt like eternity. I also ordered a Long Island Iced Tea, and when I asked the waitress how much longer it would be, she seemed confused and mentioned she thought someone else had already brought it out. To make matters worse, the drink was just sitting there—like the staff thought it would magically serve itself.
When the food finally arrived, it was a huge letdown. The flavors were completely lacking. It honestly felt like the chef had no clue what they were doing. I was especially surprised when I noticed they didn’t even have tandoori chicken on the menu, which is a classic Indian dish. Instead, they had something called kurkuri bhindi, which was just... odd. We ordered the tandoori platter, and to my shock, everything on the platter was deep-fried. Deep-fried tandoori? Seriously? I would’ve been happier grabbing fast food.
The mains arrived, and we were excited to dig into the goat curry. But, to our horror, it was undercooked. I was really hoping for a nice celebration meal, but instead, the next morning I woke up with food poisoning symptoms. I had to take the day off work, lost money, and ruined the celebration of my mum’s birthday. All in all, it was an expensive and frustrating experience. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, especially if you're looking for a proper Indian meal or a good...
Read moreI recently ordered takeaway from Jugni, hoping for an authentic taste of Indian cuisine, but my experience was quite mixed.
I started with the Chicken Tikka Taco as a starter, and it was absolutely delicious - so much so that I'm tempted to order it as a main dish next time, should I decide to give Jugni another go.
However, the Garlic Naan was a disappointment. It lacked the essential garlic flavour, making my homemade versions seem superior.
The Butter Chicken curry was another letdown; it was watered down and diluted, lacking the rich, creamy taste I expected. It was quite tasteless.
And the Saffron Rice was shocking - if you can even call it that. There was barely any hint of saffron; perhaps five or six grains showed a faint yellowish colour, with no aroma of saffron at all. If the kitchen was out of saffron, the staff should have communicated this to allow for an alternative choice.
Overall, I went to Jugni with much higher expectations, but unfortunately, the experience did not meet them. The Chicken Tikka Taco was a highlight, but the rest of the meal was...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Jugni, and it was an absolute delight. From the moment we stepped in, the ambiance was warm and welcoming, setting the perfect tone for an evening of incredible food.
The drinks were refreshing, with a great selection of cocktails and traditional Indian beverages like lassi, both of which complemented the meal wonderfully. The real star, however, was the food. The curries were rich, flavorful, and perfectly spiced, with each dish offering a delightful complexity. The textures were spot on — particularly the soft, melt-in-your-mouth naan and roti, which paired beautifully with the sauces.
Whether you're craving a classic butter chicken, a fragrant biryani, or a vegetarian dish bursting with fresh herbs and spices, there's something here for everyone. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, making great recommendations for wine and dish pairings.
All in all, Jugni brings authentic Indian cuisine to life in a way that's rare to find outside of India. I will definitely be returning to explore more of their menu. Highly...
