Varsity Cannington — Restaurant in Beckenham

This was our first visit to the Cannington Varsity, we chose it as I have very active Grandchildren & we were told they had a play area etc, upon entry the atmosphere was one of people having a great time the laughter from the Bowling Alleys & the screams of getting a Strike were great. The Food whilst nothing special was Hot I had Bbq Chicken pieces which was very succulent & Juicy with a Bbq sauce they were very nice, everyone had Burgers which is what Varsity is known for they all seemed to enjoy their food we were a party of 12 who were squeezed in after I explained that we were only all together for that weekend as 2 of the party are FIFO etc. I thought that enabling us to have a table was extremely kind of the girl I spoke to on the phone. The kids had a Ball playing in the Arcade section they had a great time picking prizes with the tickets they won, it really didn't cost much to entertain them & as I said they had more fun picking prizes. Varsity in Cannington has polite & efficient staff, the atmosphere was great listening to kids having fun the food well food is food & it was a Hamburger place so all in all the food though not special was well cooked & presented as well as tasty. I recommend this place to anyone with children who wants to enjoy good food, good service and a great atmosphere even on a budget as you can always share a meal or have snacks. Where do I even start, Varsity has to be one of the best, possibly even the top of the list of venues for nearly any occasion! They've got something for everyone, with an impressive number of TVs playing all types of sports nonstop, even a few massive projectors with one even being in an amazing outdoors area, there's always great music playing with volume adjusted to never be too loud or too quiet, an outstanding range of drinks even including things like thick shakes and mocktails, flawless food menu, an unbeatable range of fun for everyone from pool tables, bowling alleys to the best arcade I've ever been to! and then to top it all off, you have the best staff crew I've ever come across at a place like this, always genuine and kind hearted people that put in that extra bit of effort to look after you and make you feel welcome instead of seeming like they're robots just there to get paid which is extremely rare and refreshing to find these days, cannot recommend this place enough! hands down unbeatable! Have been multiple times in the past but this is the first time we’ve been this year, along with the rest of the family. For context we also visited about 11:30-12. Can say this has been the worst visit so far.

The food was mediocre at best. We ordered some cheesy fries, Hawaiian pizza and some burgers. The chips by far were the best part of the meal but were covered with the cheesy whip which would’ve been fine if there were more than a couple pieces of bacon on top. The Hawaiian pizza also seemed to have a lack of toppings and could’ve been convinced to become a plain cheese, along with the bottom being burnt. Burgers were alright but average. Service could’ve been better, lady who took my order seemed to be on a power trip with the condescending attitude and lack of patience. And food took forever to come out considering what DID end up coming out. And it’s not like there were many other people. Not to mention how dirty the cutlery containers were, we didn’t bother even using the forks considering the amount of dust and past tables crumbs that were waiting for their chance to jump onto a plate. Atmosphere, can’t complain. Weren’t many other people and was very chill.
