55 years ago my wife and I were married in the Anglican Holy Trinity Church in Bowen. We had our wedding reception in the old reception room at the Denison Hotel (now Bowen Hotel). It was a wonderful start to our marriage. Today , 55 years later, to the day, we revisited the church in Bowen before having a celebratory anniversary lunch in the beautifully renovated, tastefully decorated restaurant at the (Denison)/Bowen Hotel. And what a day we have had. Thanks to the incredible staff and management. Right from making the booking over the phone, 2 weeks prior, Warren became as excited as we were. He promised to do something special for us and WOW, did he deliver. After being very warmly greeted by the restaurant/bar staff, who already knew us as the “anniversary couple”, we were escorted to our table in a secluded nook. The table setting that Warren had personally prepared for us, blew us away. It was like we had walked into a fine dining restaurant. Lovely glassware, plates and cutlery, fresh cloth napkins replete with ornate napkin rings, and even our individual names written on little wooden hearts placed carefully on our plates served as greeting cards. The table was sprinkled liberally with hearts and silk rose petals, and the decorative centrepiece was a lovely floral arrangement in a beautiful glass vase. The food was yummy,( Chicken Schnitzel & Crispy Skin Tasmanian Salmon) and very reasonably priced. The atmosphere throughout the whole place was very cheerful and relaxing and the staff everywhere is super friendly. So thanks again to everyone for helping make this important anniversary SUPER SPECIAL for us.. You have helped us to create some more good memories. Special thanyous : to Warren, for going above & beyond expectations. to Karen, for your hgospitality and running a very cohesive team. to Kathleen, for your cheerfulness behind the bar. To Cheryl from gaming, for your...
Read moreIt is very regrettable that I have to find another restaurant instead of Bowen hotel for my meals daily.
Last night I was shocked that the chef at Bowen hotel kitchen gave my husband such food- 90% raw fatty beef (cannot chew and swallow it). My husband left it on the plate. Maybe Bowen hotel owner can ask the staff last night who collected the dishes at Table No. 1 that the couple used to eat at this table.
For my meal, I ordered Thai Beef Salad and requested Sauce separated as the sauce is too salty and hot. Unfortunately the chef or kitchen assistant still put the beef marinated sauce into the salad. I do not need to put the sauce into the salad. It still be salty and hot. I had to ask the kitchen take out the sauce and change a new plate. I ate the salad and drunk 2 glasses of water. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I really appreciate Bowen hotel as I have been eating here for a quite while (from March 2022 till now). Although the above case happened twice, I still come to eat as we do not change restaurant so often.
But starting 4 months ago, chip and salad has been less than before. And the beef quality is poorer than before. But the price is up $2 dollars
Anyway, I can accept the price and wonderful customer service. But for the kitchen chef and food quality I cannot accept. Have you changed the chef ?
I really hope you can improve the food quality and quantity. Otherwise you will slowly lose...
Read moreWent in to play Gaming Machines with a few mates early hours of the morning, was playing two machines, fed over 4k into them both, over the course of two hours, for the duty manager to come over and say “sorry you cant play two machines at once its illegal”.
Meanwhile he walked past us about 10 times throughout the night and said nothing and gladly watched us loose 4k. He could have said it at the start not wait till the end of the night when he knew we fed the machines. Anyways, he then proceeded to say to the young bar tender that she needs to address it. Clearly this Duty Manager doesn't have the sales of this pub in his best interests cause I wont be back.
Nice gaming room but the way he addressed his female worker on this issue and the pub in general was not business minded approach. Upper Management need to address...
