Myself and 3 others dined here tonight. Each one of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. A risotto with prawns, a garlic prawns, a sirloin with veggies and for myself a t-bone steak with pepper sauce and chips and salad. There's a saying, "Do simple food well and your customers will leave happy gladly come back in future." This was very much the case tonight. Steaks were tender and cooked beautifully. Veggies and salad were very fresh and a delight to eat. Sauces were spot on in every way. Desert was a lemon meringue and apple and rhubarb tart with cinnamon cream and ice-cream. The apple tart nailed it, with perfectly balanced cinnamon flavours and a perfect crust that didn't require a hammer and chisel to eat. Very well done all round.

Being on a pension I have to watch my spending. The Free Masons is a basic Hotel that provides a comfortable friendly place to stay right in the main street. The large balcony allows you a beautiful view of hills , greenery & a place to sit & relax with a cuppa watching the wild birds & town wake up. The restaurant Gusto has new management & is serving delicious food a step or two above the old pub grub & is very popular. The front bar serves ice cold drinks at a reasonable price & the locals are very friendly. So if your looking for budget accomodation that provides the basics & a old world feel & a good meal this is a great place to stay.

Freemasons Hotel As newbies to Bridgetown, we were delighted to be taken out to dinner and the restaurant of choice was The Freemasons. The server staff was really friendly and chatty and helpful – especially when we didn’t know what “parmy” chicken was. A great ambience with pictures around this historical old hotel, still wit many of its original features. The food was good, the price was great and we had a really enjoyable time – just what the Doctor ordered.

Thankfully we didn't stay at this hotel, but unfortunately we went for a lunch at the hotel restaurant as a family with two hungry kids. Super disappointed with the terrible service we received. First of all, the waitress who was taking our order on the table left us in the middle of the order saying that she will be back soon. She never did and we had to ask her to come back to our table to finish our order. Then we had to wait for almost an hour for the food while the restaurant was half empty. During this time nobody gave us any update about the waiting time, while I saw other customers who arrived after us took their order much earlier than us! This was certainly the longest I had to wait for food in a restaurant, add to this dealing with two hungry kids, too. I understand that a restaurant can get busy or understaffed, although this wasn't really the issue as, like I said, everyone else got their order much earlier even those who arrived after us, but at least the restaurant staff and management can be honest and tell their customers about the waiting time for any reason, so the customers can make their decision whether they want to stay and wait or not. Can't really comment on the food quality as I had completely lost my appetite by the time we got our food, you can't really enjoy your food when angry even if it's the best one. This was certainly my first and last visit to this restaurant, but consider ordering your food well before you get hungry if you are planning to go to...

A terrible experience. My partner and I ordered the fish with prawns in garlic sauce. The fish was badly over cooked (like rubber) as were the prawns. The vegies were also overcooked: soft and bordering on mushy. Garlic sauce was flavorless. At $30 a plate this was extremely disappointing. While the waitress was very friendly in the begining, her tone changed when I responded to her inquiry on how the meal was. I told her it was disappointing because the fish was badly overcooked. At that point her mood turned cold and uncaring. No apology or even slight interest in what went wrong. She just told me what I needed to pay. Not even a thank you. Spare yourself the insult and drive on another 30 mins to Manji where you can get a fantastic prawn linguine for less $$ at Tall Timbers, and be served by people who actually seem to care about the...
