Beautiful venue and great menu but hospitality left a lot to be desired. We had a reservation approx. 3 weeks out for a 6pm sitting. We were a few minutes late (9 Minutes) and had let the restaurant know in advance btw. When we arrived there was no greeting or welcome and we were promptly informed we were late and that our table was turning over at 7:15pm and that orders were taking up to 45 mins to come out and therefore we needed to order as promptly as possible to ensure we we out of the venue by 7:15 leaving us approx. 20 mins to eat. Not exactly the reception me, my wife and two kids were hoping for whilst on a relaxing family holiday. We ordered in a hurry and the food was delivered sporadically and adhoc. Which was fine but the staff were quite rude and we had to ask for water for the table on multiple occasions. I get it’s peak time, but seriously for the prices you are charging resource your restaurant appropriately and push out your table turnovers to allow a little flexibility so patrons don’t feel rushed. We smashed down our food as we were getting looks from the hospo staff until the manager told us that the group expected at 7:30 had decided to sit out the front and that we could relax. Sorry, too late, you messed this up and hence the review. The experience at the Brewery across the road the night before and the Wandi pub was exceptional. There were at least 10 times as many patrons (and staff) and the hospitality experience was fantastic. The Yard…great venue, great...
Read moreThis was our first time dining at The Yard - the service was efficient and friendly and we appreciated the staff sharing the wifi password with us so we could use the QR ordering system as we had no service otherwise. Our drink orders came out promptly throughout the evening and the margs were fab on a hot New Years Day! The food was unfortunately underwhelming in comparison to the price point and flavours we were expecting. We ordered prawns for an entree and they were more like shrimp. I’d expected to see king prawns used (especially considering there were only 6 pieces on the plate). The elotes was lovely and charred however again, for the price and in comparison to similar restaurants in Melbourne we were expecting the serving to be larger. The mains were also ok, good flavour in the chicken tacos and fresh herbs were appreciated. The charred flavour and freshness we were expecting in our calamari and chorizo dish were unfortunately lost in the heavy sauce. It needed something fresh to brighten up the dish. The atmosphere of this restaurant is lovely, a little hot in the summer however with the fans going and the drinks flowing it was overall a good experience. For the ~$180 we spent (for 2A and factoring in a 15% PH surcharge) though, overall I’m not sure we’d rush back given the other local dining...
Read moreCame to The Yard tonight and had an average experience. Cocktails were delicious, all the food was tasty however the chicken thigh dish could have been hotter and the pork tacos were yum but the pork could’ve come out hotter as well and the cabbage and pico de gallo were frozen with icicles attached so when we put it in our taco it made them cold to eat, and the pico de gallo was an extra $4 for a spoonful of tomato and onion not worth it especially being frozen, these toppings should be fresh was not impressed.
The customer service by one of the waiters was not good at all, she did not look like she wanted to be there and was yawning as she walked around even though there was plenty to do and every table was full of people. She would bring over our food and neglect to take our empty plates that were sitting there stacked ready to take. When we walked out I said “thank you” and she replied “all good” when really she should’ve said “no worries guys have a great night” for example.
I expected more from this restaurant seeing as all the reviews looked great, don’t know if...
