I went to this cafe just now at 2:45pm and they where closed. There website says they close at 3pm so I can understand they want to be gone by 3pm. There where still 3 workers inside and I signalled to them as I wanted to ask if there was somewhere else I could go. One of the guys just arrogantly shrugged his shoulders saying they where closed and turned his back on me and ignored me. All I wanted was to know where else I could go. I started walking down the street but couldn't see anything. I saw the workers from this cafe outside locking up at 2:50pm. I approached them, the rude male and a lady where out front. I explained I could see you where closed and just wanted to ask where else I could go around here. The lady there was lovely and said to try across the road. I then turned to the male who being arrogant and rude to me and said there was no need to treat me the way he did I just wanted to ask a question. He stalked off but before doing so shrugged his shoulders and said to me "like I would open for you!!" I was so offended and shocked by his rude and aggressive manner and tone when he said these words to me!! He was so impolite, bad-mannered and rude!! No one should ever speak to someone so aggressively and nasty!!! The lady who was lovely to me and helped me out looked on embarrassed and apologetic for her workmates appalling behavior!! If I could give no stars or negative stars I would for this. I have never been treated like that before and still shocked by it as he was very aggressive...
Read moreMy sons and I visited on Saturday morning 26th July. The croissants were absolutely fantastic - 5 stars for the pastry chef. However, the positive aspects of our visit were unfortunately overshadowed by the deeply uncomfortable atmosphere created by the owner/manager. We witnessed him publicly and harshly reprimand a young staff member on two separate occasions. The first was over an order detail, where he said loudly, "make sure you do blue, its not green. I dont want to see this again." The second time, he had the same staff member take our milkshakes back because they were missing cream - something we hadn't even realised was included. The staff member looked incredibly stressed and worried, and the eye-rolls from other staff suggested this was a recurring issue. While I appreciate high standards, there is a wealth of evidence showing that the most effective management style involves correcting staff constructively and, crucially, in private. Public criticism creates a culture of fear, not excellence. It demotivates staff and creates a tense environment that customers can definitely feel. It's a shame, because it completely ruined our experience. Despite the delicious croissants, we won't...
Read moreEach time I have gone to the cafe the food has been wonderful. Unfortunately, the attitude that one of the staff members - he may be the owner/manager - has left an incredibly sour taste in my mouth. When I was last here on Friday 27th it was very obviously busy. The young worker on the til was running food and drinks as they were backing up on the counter. The way the owner spoke to her in front of other coworkers and customers was appalling, she looked like she was going to cry. Barking orders at your staff is never ok to do no matter how busy or stressed you may be. Having worked in hospitality myself and having common sense it is easy to recognise that service may be slower than usual during peak times. There is never any excuse to speak to your staff the way the owner/manager did. Based on the way he spoke to her it is safe to say I will not be back as I cannot stand the thought of supporting a business that thinks it’s ok to speak so disgustingly towards their team, it also makes me wonder how they are treated when customers...
