We visited this Chinese Gluten-Free restaurant last night, after making a booking a week in advance. The food itself deserves a 10/10 — beautifully cooked, full of flavor, and genuinely the best gluten-free Chinese meals we’ve had.
However, the service was unfortunately nowhere near the same standard and would barely reach a 2/10.
From the moment we arrived, the young man with the wavy long hair barely acknowledged us. We placed our order at the counter. We clearly specified that our prawn toast and steamed dumplings were Entrées, yet our mains arrived first, and the entrées trickled out afterward.
As we ate, we noticed concerning hygiene practices. The same staff member was polishing cutlery and then delivering spoons to tables with his thumb placed where diners would put food into their mouths. Worse still, he scratched under his armpit multiple times and continued handling cutlery as if nothing had happened — which is a huge cross-contamination risk, especially for a restaurant catering to those with food sensitivities.
Toward the end of our meal, another staff member with white-blonde hair came to clear plates while we were still eating, and scraped and stacked dirty dishes right next to us at the table. He then began pushing tables around while we were still dining — something that should absolutely wait until after service, or be done discreetly. He then came back to the table with spray n wipe and proceeded to spray the tables, the over spray going into our table. Whilst I ordered the Fried Ice Cream with sauce, I wasn't aware Spray n Wipe was an option on it.
In summary: ✅ Incredible food ❌ Service and hygiene standards need...
Read moreI don't normally leave negative reviews, and as a coeliac I was so excited to try this all new Gluten free Chinese restaurant, we chose takeaway and ended up ordering several dishes, on the drive home we decided to try the spring rolls, and that's where this experience went down hill, while the food presented well, the spring roll was crispy on the outside almost hard, but soggy on the inside with a weird taste to the filling, nothing was fresh and we didn't enjoy the rolls at all. We then tried the salt and pepper squid and it also presented well but was crispy on the outside and uncooked slimy batter on the inside. When we got home we took out the other dishes, the special fried rice was dry with little favour, the Mongolian beef was chewy and salty, the pork in plum sauce was dry and the sauce had a weird flavour. The prawns and broccoli was ok, the prawns were clearly frozen and the vegetables had a weird after taste. The honey chicken was the best dish and it wasn't,great dry chicken breast in a soggy batter and the hard crispy noodles and honey stuck to the bottom of the container. I really wanted to love this place but after spending over $160 we fed most of this to our resident chickens. Very...
Read moreWe made the trip to dine-in as we are not local but have heard great things about the food and with a coeliac family member, we had to give it a try. The food was absolutely delicious! But unfortunately the service was poor. I get it's a small kitchen and expected some wait times but it was all over the place. Our food came out staggered over an hour, for 2 adults and 2 children. We ordered 2 entrees and 4 mains, one being a fried rice which we got take away as we had finished all our other dishes and it still hadn't come out at the hour mark. When we first chased up with staff, we were told it was being made. Several other dishes (including fried rice) came out for diners that had arrived after us so when we asked again after waiting a further 15 minutes, the young girl simply replied with "so you want a refund". When I said we would just have it takeaway it was literally ready within seconds and there was no apology for the wait from staff. Unfortunately this really put a negative on our experience. It's definitely not somewhere we would recommend for dine in. Maybe they should just stick to takeaway because they don't seem to have the capacity or time to...
