My wife and I went to Social last year for breakfast and the food was tasty, ambience was lovely and service super fast. We always wanted to try it for dinner and tonight we finally got around to it.
Let’s just say Social is better at breakfast and is not a good dinner place. Could hardly hear my wife or the waitress for all the cars whizzing past. The waitress said they were a bit busy and we may have to wait a while but it wasn’t too long at all, very prompt. We got the mushroom arancini for starters which was delicious, hot and crispy. My wife had a strawberry daiquiri mocktail that tasted as if it had a whole lime in it and was bordering on undrinkable - it was so sour! I got a beer with a straw which wasn’t bad, just strange.
My wife got the Caesar salad which was good, but it had a bit too much dressing and some of the lettuce was pink. I got the rump steak with mash and broccolini. The broccolini and mash was cold when the food came out. My wife suggesting pouring the gravy on it to ‘warm it up’ but it was still a bit cold. I ordered the steak medium rare but I think the waitress misheard me (all the cars going past) and ordered it rare. I ate as much of it as I could but looking at it and tasting the raw meat was making me feel sick.
We spent over $100 for both of us to come home feeling unwell from the meal. Sad as we had high expectations after the fantastic breakfast we had last year. We may be back for breakky but absolutely not...

PROS: lovely waitresses, nice live music
CONS: ¹ Gluten Free Garlic Bread $10 completely disappointing - it consisted of TWO tiny and thin slices of toasted bought loaf of bread! My husband and I got two tiny triangles of bread each.
² My main meal of Crispy Skin Tasmanian Salmon never arrived. Even thought the lady giving staff directions walked back and forward past my table, neither she nor staff noticed only my husband had been delivered a main course, with my plate setting empty. I finally asked a staff member the whereabouts of my meal and was told the order was not placed. As my husband had eaten ⅔'s of his meal it was too late to wait for it to be cooked.
So my meal consisted of two triangles of bread and a shared bowl of chips.
And I should mention our table was moved four times.
Summing up, not a...
Read moreI've never written a negative review whilst currently still at the venue but honestly this place is highway robbery.
I paid $21 for the photo you see attached. 1 slice of bread, two eggs and a little spinach and sauce. It was 4 mouthfuls and I was finished. I'm glad I don't live in this area so I never have to drive past and remember how much I was robbed. The price here is certainly not fair for the portion size. The atmosphere is average and the service is average. But I was honestly shocked when I saw this dismal meal arrive. I'm literally still hungry and $21 poorer than I was before. To add insult to injury it was $6 for a Luke warm coffee in a glass. I'd honestly rather eat mulch from the garden bed beside this Cafe than come back here and be financially stripped and shaken down. Good riddance to this public...
