Have been a couple times since opening. This place always seemed to be popular, but of late has dropped off on patronage. Its current owners have refurbished a couple times, but the food has not kept up with the aesthetics which are quite nice now. Both times I ate there the food has been sub-standard as with the coffee. I don't understand how it attracts so many people or did. My first meal which was a couple years ago was large enough but no seasoning and bland. I went again about 5 days ago to see if it was any better and the bread i had was soggy, small and nearly inedible. (serving sizes have reduced by about a third and are more expensive). The side salad if you can call it that was about 5 small salad leaves with no dressing and 2 half cooked cherry tomatoes with the predictable dash of glase. On top of the tiny bread was 2 bland cheap cuts of Haloumi on top of a really nicely cooked piece (1 piece) of bacon. Then dumped on top and only just balancing was 2 hard boiled eggs with no seasoning....This was $21. The coffee was an unfinishable skinny cappuccino. Tacky food to say the least. Looking around I saw equally inspiring fair. Well that will be it for another year or two if i can possible brave a third attempt?.....It's a pity as its in close proximity. I have lived in the area for nearly 20 years and seen the place change hands 3 times. My suggestion is taste the food before...
Read moreDeedot is a delicious local café that I would gladly return to.
We ordered bibimbap with pork belly, sweet potato chips, a pumpkin wrap, and an Italian sub.
Bibimbap ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Highly recommend) I appreciate any café that offers Asian dishes, especially those that respect authentic flavours and even exceed the original. This bibimbap is a healthy lunch option with plenty of greens and roasted veggies in one dish. It strikes a good balance of carbs, veggies, and protein. We added pork belly, and it was delicious! From memory, it was $7 extra, but the serving size of the tender pork belly did not disappoint.
Pumpkin Halloumi Wrap ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I really enjoyed the wrap. It was flavourful, saucy, and healthy. The portion of pumpkin and halloumi was well balanced, and I felt satisfied after finishing it. It offers good value for money given the portion size.
Sweet Potato Chips ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ There’s not much to elaborate on here—just a great recommendation if you want some additional snacks.
Italian Sub ⭐️⭐️ I’m not a fan of the Italian sub. The ingredients were simple, and I found it a bit plain. Although there was a lot of sauce, it still tasted somewhat bland. This could just be personal preference, though. The portion size was large, and I struggled...
Read moreDeedot is easily our favourite cafe on the Southside. The coffee is always great and the menu, which does change every few months, always hits the spot.
The only point of feedback we have is with the Prawn Bao Burger that is currently on their menu at the time of writing this review. The deep fried prawn still have their tails on, which makes it bit inconvenient to eat if you don't want crunchy shell with a bite of the burger. Further, the bun they used when we went for lunch seemed stale? We're not quite sure what happened, but the bottom half of the bun was rock solid and impossible to bite or cut through. We fed this information back to the kitchen, so hopefully they watch out for it for next time.
This was, literally, the only error we have experienced in 25+ visits over the last few years. These guys are consistently brilliant and will continue to be our go to breakky joint for the...
