This is a spacious, clean and airy pub bistro with comfortable seating, large tables and strong lighting. The menu isn’t big but there’s something for everyone including our fav pub specials like fish and chips, schnitzels, steaks and burgers. Also on special, the night we dined was a schooner of refreshing Great Northern Super Crisp at just $6. And the great thing about the menu is that they have a selection of seniors specials, which you can avail yourself of on presentation of your seniors card. We took advantage of that, and ordered calamari, fish and chips and rissoles, to share between two of us, for a modest total of only $42. All dishes come with chips and salad or mash and vegetables, and at $14 a dish, that’s unbeatable value for money. The servings were generous and the quality of the food was first class.
To start, the calamari was soft and chewy, and served with crispy chips and a nutritious salad. The main courses were equally good. My wife’s fish was succulent and tender, and it came with creamy mash and crunchy carrots and broccoli. My rissoles were tasty and well cooked, just the way I like them and they were served with chips, salad and a little bowl of warm gravy to give it that extra flavour. They were all thoroughly enjoyable meals that were nicely presented to the table on smart crockery. We ended with another of our favourites: sticky date pud with cream and ice cream ($12). The pud was moist and sweet and the fresh cream and ice cream, with a slither of strawberry, were the perfect accompaniments: No better way to end the meal.
The ambience is super casual, relaxed and homely. Covid protocols are in place and adhered to, which was reassuring, and the friendly greeting that we received from the lady working the front bar, made us feel welcome. Service from the bartender, who took orders and brought the food to the table was courteous, polite and efficient. Meals were delivered quickly and everything ran smoothly from beginning to end. We couldn’t have been happier with our first visit here, and as newcomers to this area, the Indooroopilly Hotel will be seeing more of us in future.
There’s a convenient little parking lot just behind the hotel, where you’ll also find a handy BWS liquor store, so you can stock up there if you’re still thirsty.
It’s worth noting that the Indooroopilly Hotel is part of the ALH Group, who own and run a number of licenced, entertainment and accommodation venues across the Brisbane area. We’ve been to a few of them recently, and they all display the same high quality of professionalism, with efficient service, outstanding food and a warm, homely and welcoming atmosphere. And with affordable and modest prices that make them accessible...
Read moreI called and spoke to someone at the Indooroopilly Hotel to make a booking and check about something on their menu. There's a specific table that we like, because it's much quieter there. When we arrived, we saw that someone else was sitting at the table that we had booked. I checked with a server but our booking wasn't registered. We sat elsewhere. However, it was next to large group and it was noisy. We ordered wine and chips initially. Leaving our wine glasses partially filled and personal items at the table we ordered our main meals at a later time. When we returned to our table, we found that our wine glasses had been removed. Our personal items were still there. A server resolved the problem. This is the first time that this has happened to us. I checked the price of an item that I ordered from the menu and found that the server had charged me more than what was on the menu. I asked the server and was told that the menu was wrong! It was a difficult night for us at the pub. To top it off, I had my pub+ card out on my phone ready to top up my points, I paid and realised that the server didn't ask about scanning my card. When I asked about this, I was told that it was too late to get the points credited to my pub+ card. My thought is that servers there should always ask customers if they'd like to have their pub+ card scanned prior to payment, very similar to what grocery stores do. We've been visiting the Indooroopilly Pub for many years. I'm not sure that...
Read moreLook, I’ve lived within walking distance of the Indooroopilly Hotel for almost 4 years now. We used to frequent there then kind of just stopped going over time. Well, we just came back and I actually feel a little silly neglecting such a wonderful local like this. My partner and I had steaks, which were incredible but it wasn’t the steaks that got us. Whoever has assembled the staff here has done an incredible job. My partner, who owns her own coffee shop, couldn’t stop talking about how she would LOVE to have any one of the staff that we dealt with working for her. After dinner we went to the sports bar for one last drink before we walked home and same thing!! Absolutely incredible service again with two totally different people. It made me happy that even though we’d been neglecting our ol’ Faithful local that they had still been doing Indro proud! We are now regulars again and I challenge the Indro locals to come in and see how your local pub (for many many years) is doing today. You won’t be disappointed. I assure you. Kudos to the management staff here. Especially whoever does...
