I’ve just had the most horrifying experience at your restaurant. We’ve been frequenting your eatery for the best part of 10 years and have always had a fantastic experience there. Today, however, after putting through a big order of approximately $130 for our family, the cashier pointed to the “no outside food” sign. I explained that, as I had a 2 year old, I had brought food with me for him. He said it would be fine, as long as it was not outside food. I explained that it wasn’t from your restaurant and, hence, was “outside” food. After quite a convoluted conversation with him, I asked to speak to his manager. I have to say, I’ve never been spoken to in such a condescending, dismissive manner by a staff member of any restaurant. She insisted she didn’t have time to talk to me as she was very busy, rolled her eyes several times, insisted she refund my money and i “just leave” or “go away”. She told me she had asked several people to leave your restaurant that morning as they had brought in outside food. I asked for her name to put in my concerns at how we had been treated, she refused to give me her name, asking me to “go away and just leave- I refund your money, eat somewhere else”. Finally, after realising I was getting no where and being treated just awfully, I conceded and she refunded my money as the food I had ordered arrived!!! I asked again about being able to complain about the customer service at the restaurant- she then eventually gave me a business card and shooed me away! She also insisted she was the most senior manager/ person I could relay my concerns to at your restaurant at any stage/ time. Let me be very clear about what I am so very disappointed about: whilst I do understand you have rules which do need to be enforced all around, to have no flexibility around the food items (purchased from a supermarket) for a baby is downright dismal! To treat any human being (let alone someone who had just spent $130) in the way I was treated by your staff, is utterly atrocious. I understand you may not need my business at all (and this is perfectly fine)- but part of any flourishing business is to be kind, flexible and respectful to your patrons. If you cannot do this, you then can at least not insist you do not need their business or shoo them away- all because they brought in supermarket or store-bought food for...
Read moreI love Phuc! There are restaurants you stumble into once and never think of again — and then there are places like this one. This Vietnamese restaurant holds a very special place in my heart, and honestly, no words can do it full justice… but I’ll try.
From the moment you walk through the door, you’re met with the kind of warmth that doesn’t come from decor — though the place is charming — but from the people. There’s a quiet magic in the way they greet you like family, remember your usual, and somehow always know just when to top up your tea.
And the food. My god, the food. Every dish is like a memory, wrapped in fresh herbs and simmered in care. Their pho? Silky, fragrant, deep with flavour like it’s been cooking all day — because it has. The kind of broth that makes you pause after the first spoonful and just close your eyes. And the crispy spring rolls? Pure joy in every bite, especially dipped in that perfectly balanced nước chấm. Even their simplest dishes — like a bowl of vermicelli with grilled pork and pickled vegetables — feel like poetry.
But it’s more than just the food. It’s the feeling. This place has been there for me in quiet solo dinners, belly-laugh meals with friends, and slow rainy nights when I just needed a bowl of comfort. It’s one of those rare places where love and tradition come through in every plate, where it never feels like just a restaurant — it feels like your restaurant.
I’ll keep coming back for the pho. I’ll keep coming back for the people. But most of all, I’ll keep coming back because it...
Read moreFor Vietnamese street food this place is pretty good. Yes, the prices aren't cheap, but the quality of the food and the quantity are proportionate. For example, my noodle soup with crispy chicken had not just plenty of noodles and a quarter chicken, but tofu, some quail eggs and a good selection of fresh vegies in addition to the traditional bean sprouts mint, chilli and lime.
The seating area for the restaurant is fenced off from the rest of the food court and you're not allowed to bring food items from other places into it. That said, there is nothing to stop you taking your Phuc Delt-Viet meal out into the food court either if you wish. The shame about the sign regarding outside food is really that it sets a bit of an unfriendly tone, and I will admit that I find the general lack of smiles from the staff a bit strange. Cultural differences, perhaps?
The main thing I find frustrating here is that a lot of the staff speak very poor English. As long as you are ordering something basic off the menu it's okay, but beyond that the going gets trickier. I have had one occasion where I tried to order an alcoholic drink and eventually gave up because the waitress simply couldn't...
