Food My wife and I dined on a quiet Fri night in May. We ordered a beer, one entrée, two mains and a bowl of rice. For the entrée, it was our fave veg spring rolls. There were six generous crispy rolls to a serve neatly arranged on the plate. The vegetarian filling was soft and tasty. They came straight out of the ovens and they were piping hot. Next, came our two main courses and they didn’t disappoint either. We chose the sizzling black pepper steak and the stir fried tofu with vegetables. My meat was finely sliced, making it easy to digest, and it was accompanied by lashings of delicious fried onions, shallot and mushrooms. The pepper spicy sauce was the icing on the cake, and gave the dish a tangy taste and flavour. My wife’s stir fry dish was a nice serve with soft and chewy tofu, a selection of fresh and colourful vegetables and topped off with a soy sauce. The fluffy white rice was the perfect accompaniment.
Service There were two pretty young ladies on duty. They were both friendly, polite and efficient. Our orders were quickly taken and drinks, entrees and main meals came out at a steady clip and in the correct order. As this was my first time using the Eat Club pay app, I was a little uncertain how to finalise the transaction but these guys were patient and helpful, and in the end I got the 15% discount minus the hateful "card processing fee".
Atmosphere Even though it was a Fri night at around 7pm, the place was quiet and there were only a handful of other diners. The space is divided into two dining areas separated by an archway. We sat in the uppermost part, at a cosy table by the window, looking out onto the Moggill Road streetscape outside. The chairs were comfy and the table was large enough to easily fit all the drinks and dishes. The interior has been decorated in traditional Chinese style with faux windows on the walls, lots of greenery and wooden furniture. I did find the lighting though a bit too dim, and that, combined with the rather dark colour tones, gave the place a somewhat sombre ambience, especially as it was fairly empty. The table lamp didn’t help much either, it just got in the way.
Cost We used the Eat Club app to book and get 15% off the bill, which I thought was a reasonable deal. Under the new E.C. arrangements though, you need to load their digital card onto your phone and pay with that. The discount, less the “card processing fee” (which effectively reduces the discount by about 2%) will be automatically factored in. It worked like a charm and we ended up paying 55. That’s not a bad value in these hyperinflationary times.
Toilets This is where things get a bit tricky. There are no toilets inside the restaurant, so you need to get a key from one of the waitresses and traverse a narrow, dimly lit stairwell at the back. Down below, there is no lighting at all, and I couldn’t even find the lights inside the toilets, so everything had to be done in the darkness, as I’d not bothered to bring my phone with me. From what I could make out, the toilets were in reasonable condition and there was soap and hand towels, but they need to seriously upgrade the lighting both inside and outside.
Parking There is street parking if you can find a spot, which we couldn't, so we drove a little further and found one-hour parking outside the busy Domino’s Pizza store in a little shopping strip on the corner of Moorak Street, which also has a gym and a bottle shop. I don’t think this little parking area is monitored at night, so you should be safe even if you stay more than one hour.
Summary We had a pleasant evening here and everything ran smoothly, from booking, to ordering, service, food, ambience and easy payment options using the Eat Club pay app. Food is high quality and the waitresses are super...

🍚 A beautiful metamorphosis has occurred, Yuet Wah has transformed into the amazing LITTLE RICE BOWL RESTAURANT !
🍚 There are two areas, one with music, a bit lively and cheery, the other a bit darker and quieter. I went to the dark side, hid in the corner and enjoyed a refreshing Strawberry Frappe, half was iced slushy, which I love. They also have a bar where they make all these concoctions.
🐑 This could be the best Sizzling Mongolian Lamb I’ve ever had, you heard me. The lamb was tender but the marinade and accompanied spices were so distinctively sharp and aromatic I wanted to slap the chef’s face. I extended the meal as much as I could by adding rice to the sauce and licking the plate, my fingers and a customer’s fingers. We have settled out of court.
🍤 Salt and Pepper fried King Prawns : this was my second entrée and this one had eyes. Alisha, part of the family who own L.R.B., confessed she doesn’t like peeling the shell and I’m with her on that one 100%. Besides, I love eating heads, tails, cartilage etc. I even loved the decorative noodles and vege debris.
❤️ I like you Little Rice Bowl...
Read moreOrdered Friday night takeaway from Little Rice Bowl, which arrived (via Uber) impressively within 30 minutes!
Chicken Chow Mein: Generous portion with a tasty sauce, and the crispy noodles were conveniently separated. However, the noodles were overcooked—too dry and nearly burnt—making them difficult to enjoy even with the sauce.
Dry Beef Rice Noodles: Another generous portion, but it missed the mark in flavour. Having tried this dish many times before (at other restaurants), the balance wasn’t quite right—perhaps too much dark soy, giving it an overly dark appearance, or lacking the sweetness for a proper flavour balance.
Sweet and Sour Pork: A classic done well in flavour, but it was disappointing to receive only a minimal amount of sauce—maybe a single ladle’s worth. With too much pork and not enough sauce, I had to make some extra sauce at home to coat the rest evenly.
Tofu Stir Fry: Generous portion and spot-on flavour! No issues with this dish.
Overall, I’ll definitely try Little Rice Bowl again. Cantonese options are limited in the area, and I’m glad...
