Review: Curry Corner – The Gap

So tonight we tried Curry Corner at The Gap and ordered quite the feast: Chicken Tikka Masala, Rogan Lamb Josh, Butter Chicken, yellow rice (though it wasn’t actually yellow), garlic naan, and poppadums.

I asked for the lamb to be extra spicy, and to be honest, the dish exceeded my expectations—it packed a great kick and was full of flavour. The butter chicken, ordered medium, is a family favourite and didn’t disappoint.

The chicken tikka masala, however, wasn’t quite what I’m used to from the UK. It wasn’t as saucy or as flavoursome as I’d expect. For me, a traditional UK-style chicken tikka masala (or chicken rogan masala) is a gorgeous, thick, red sauce packed with spices and richness. That’s something I’ve yet to find perfected here in Queensland. That said, the dish itself was decent, especially if you haven’t tried this style before.

Overall, though, Curry Corner is a smashing addition to The Gap and definitely worth sampling. It’s great to support a local business giving it a go—and delivering some tasty dishes in...

Well well now theres a pleasant surprise, good suburban curry at a reasonable price in The Gap. I've driven past the Curry Corner and meant to give it a go for some time now, I backed off till tonight as just wasn't keen on buying another mistake. Well I must say I was surprised this place is pretty good, so much so I will be back. I dined alone at home with a Medium Spicy Rogan Josh and wasn't disappointed, there was plenty of it and it packed enough flavour's to make me happy. So what more to say, the Chef is a character and nice guy to boot, food was all cooked fresh and I was in and out in 10 minutes the only thing that would have made this evenings meal better would have been if there was Goat on the menu... Good stuff...

It's not a good a sign when you uber eats bag arrives soaked in oil.. Really wanted to love this place but the food was terrible. Lamb rogan Josh had a funny smell to it, like it was old meat. The curry itself was very oily and contained about 5 pieces of meat. The naan - like rubber. Raita - so sweet it could have been a fruit yoghurt. The only thing that saved this meal was the tikka masala. It was edible once you got past the oil but nothing special. I am so disappointed because The Gap was really lacking a good Indian restaurant. I really hope the owners improve the food. For $70 I feel...
