Plenty of chicken around the area so tried Nando's this afternoon for a change. Service was friendly and patient while I decided dishes. I make Paella at home to a traditional recipe so gave theirs a try. Their Paella is a very crude adaptation of the real thing. It's not cooked in a pan so don't expect a crispy base to enjoy. Yellow steamed rice (no real saffron here) with a small amount of capsicum and onion to stir in. There were pieces of chicken placed on top but not cooked with the rice so no flavour incorporation or use of stock. As I said, crude adaptation, once the chicken is finished the rest is fairly bland to be honest. Possibly the strangest quarter of chicken I've ever experienced. It consisted of a wing attached to a section of rib and spine. Anywhere else you would receive the full thigh and a drumstick. It lacked the protein I expected but it did have some heat at least. I wouldn't call it extra hot unless you have trouble with Old El Paso hot sauce. Dining in has some of the mood set for a Spanish experience. Music and decor gave the room a feel. Good idea having the grill in view of customers. This visit didn't quite...
Read moreLast weekend I attended Nandos Clayfield restaurant and saw that two female employees were cooking my meal with their masks down. This is unacceptable with the current climate.
To make things worse- my meal was put on the pass to wait for my husbands meal to be complete. A third staff member leant against the pass leaning over my meal with his mask off having a chat with his mask less colleagues- ensuring their germs were landing all over my food- how do I know if they had Covid?!!!
This is truly unacceptable and totally unhygienic. As someone who is trying their best to avoid getting sick I believe these staff need to be spoken to- I am happy to forward this complaint onto qld health and the relevant peoples as I am sure they would be unhappy with this breach of Covid rules.
I sent the above message to nandos who passed it on to the area manager. I have not heard back from them which is very disappointing- telling me that this behaviour is the norm and I hope by sharing this message other diners will not receive the same treatment.

Read moreVery mixed bag of reviews I’d say our experience was more middling. Agree with reviews that several tables were just left dirty for quite a long time. We were stood at the entrance for a while (was unsure whether we just sat and ordered directly or needed to be seated like in the UK) and were just ignored by staff for a few minutes till we figured out ourselves we had to find a clean table and order from there.
Food was okay, definitely on the saltier side (which is surprising as you’d expect a standard taste of Nando’s). Even more surprising is that this has been mentioned before in reviews and clearly Nando’s is reading and responding to reviews yet doing nothing about it.
Clearly something isn’t working for this Nando’s - it’s a rainy Saturday afternoon and this place is basically empty. If nothing I’m surprised the management doesn’t care to address concerns just to get profitability up? Anyway - a very average experience for a well known globally loved chain which has the potential to be so...
