Tutto Caffe Espresso Bar — Restaurant in Brisbane City

My friends and I saw this restaurant on Eat Club and decided to give it a chance because it looked like a hidden gem. We were so very wrong.

First off, although it shows the discount on the full menu on Eat Club, apparently the lamb shanks were not eligible for the discount. We still ordered it nonetheless. The wait staff were nice and attentive but got one of our orders wrong. Instead of a pasta dish, we received two serves of arancini. But get this! It took a whopping 40 mins for the arancini to arrive. It was decent but we were getting impatient. It took another 20 mins for our mains to arrive, making it a total of 1 hour since we had ordered. Absolutely ridiculous considering there were only about less than 15 of us in the restaurant. We were not the only table that was fussed about this as the table beside us had complained about the wait to the waitress.

The food - the food was absolutely terrible. The only decent thing was the arancini. We ordered the arancini, vegan burger, lamb shanks, Margherita pizza and a mushroom truffle fettuccine (which was mistaken as an extra order of arancini). We cancelled the pasta though after realising the mistake the waitress made and after tasting the food that had arrived. We all had one slice each of the Margherita and honestly could not ingest anymore. It was worse than frozen pizza from Coles. In fact, it looked exactly like it. The lamb shanks also tasted like it came from Coles and trust me, I know. I’ve had the Coles lamb shanks before. The vegan burger was average at best and my friend did not even finish it nor did she want to take it home.

We left feeling absolutely disappointed and we will never be back, nor recommend this to anyone. In fact, we went to another restaurant for a proper meal after because this dinner was just so unsatisfying and disappointing.

Our family visited for dinner on Saturday evening. The boscaiola was pretty good. It was listed in the menu as "veal boscaiola carbi". Our waitress didn't know what "carbi" referred to. Does it mean "cardi" as in cardoons? Still wondering. This restaurant could be a great little place but a few things let it down on our visit. A minor thing is the cleanliness of the glassware. Perhaps the dishwasher needs servicing. Why didn't the waitress mention the specials? I didn't notice the board until after we'd ordered. We had young children with us but the little toy chest wasn't mentioned. I noticed it when we were leaving. More important was the inexperience of the wait staff. Our children's pizza came out with the wrong topping. We mentioned it and regretted doing so because it was taken away leaving our young boys disappointed. We shared from our own plates and were nearly finished by the time their meal was served again. We appreciated that the staff were apologetic but why didn't they offer to just leave the first pizza for the kids? It would have been fine and a better experience. Preparing a replacement took so long that it wasn't really worth it. If it were my restaurant, I'd have offered the kids pizza at a discount in recognition of the inconvenience or made some effort to leave a good impression. Could better staff training help? Super disappointing experience tonight honestly. My partner and I had been here for breakfast a couple of times a couple of years ago and no complaints at all. Four of us came here for dinner for the first time tonight before we had to catch a flight. No one else was in the restaurant but two front house staff and the kitchen staff. We ordered a drink each, garlic bread and mains all at the same time. 15 mins later the bread came out, 10 minutes after that one drink came out, 10 mins after that the next drink, 10 minutes later, the next, and 15 minutes later the fourth drink. We went to pay and leave as we had no trust that the mains would all come at once, whereby they said they're just serving up the food, so we graciously sat back down. 5 minutes later one mains came out, 5 minutes after that the next mains, 5 minutes after, the next and so on... Asked for no mushrooms, got mushrooms. Chicken still pink. Pasta and veal bland. Cocktails warm.
