Came to try their banh mi after hearing they won best banh mi 2024 award. Was advised the wait for roast pork was 25 mins when placing the order, which was fine with us as we wanted to dine in and get extras for takeaway. Everything went well at this point, dine in food was served within reasonable time, grilled pork tasted nice, banh mi bread was crispy.
We were originally waiting patiently for our takeaway order, until we saw that others who ordered way after us getting their food orders (both dine in and t/a) served, including table behind us also ordering roast pork banh mi. They had arrived at least 30 mins after us and we’ve already finished our dine in meal and been waiting at that point.
Checked in with the cashier once again about our takeaway order and was told 5 mins. 10 mins later she said it was coming right up. My order was placed at 12.15pm and at that point it was 1.05pm and still waiting for the order to be completed.
Taking away the original 25 min wait for roast pork, it was still plenty additional time we gave them to prepare for our takeaway order. & we could see other customers continually getting their food during the time in between.
I understand my takeaway order may have been a large one (total 8 banh mi) but it was ordered way in advance of the roast pork being ready, and way before other customers. They could’ve prepped my order once the roast pork was available, but no. They kept serving other customers and left our order hanging. This was the disappointment.
Oh & fyi if you want to get chilli with your food, its an additional $0.80 per serve (not listed anywhere on the menu, not informed during order). You get asked upon ordering if you want chilli and the extra cost is applied silently.
The shop decoration and atmosphere is great, but im not sure if i would...
Read moreThis is my personal view. I am not a fan of the banh mi or the roast pork rice bowl but it could be someone elses favourite.
The first visit I came with my husband and we both ordered the banh mi, I got the roast pork and he got the chicken. Compared to the Oxley banh mi, this was not tasty for me and my husband. After this, we said we wouldn't return again.
Atleast 6 months later I was catching a train from Richlands station and because this place is not far and I had 25 minutes to spare, I decided to grab something different this time in the hopes it would be worth it.
I got the pork rice bowl and an iced chai latte. Chai was good. But the pork rice bowl was not. The crackle was chewy not crunchy or crispy. And there was a funky taste with some of the pork pieces, almost like it has been diced on a chopping board with mixed raw meats. It tasted like the smell of a butchery.
I could only stomach 4 spoons full and had to toss it.
The flavour was a let down for me but everything else was really good, the ambience, presentation and on both visits the speed was almost immediate. Unfortunately I'm a foodie, and the food taste is what matters to me more then all...

Viet Garden is hands-down one of the most unique and memorable cafés I’ve ever visited. From the moment you step in, you’re surrounded by anime treasures, quirky collectibles, lush greenery, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you feel like you’ve discovered a secret world. The outdoor koi pond and fountain are a showstopper—so many little details that make you smile.
The food and drinks are just as incredible. My salted Vietnamese coffee was next-level delicious, and the roast pork noodle bowl was packed with flavour and absolutely perfect. It’s the kind of meal that makes you want to come back again and again.
To top it off, the service is warm, genuine, and goes above and beyond—you’re not just a customer here, you’re truly welcomed. Viet Garden isn’t just a café, it’s an experience you’ll be telling your friends about (and dragging them along to).
Highly recommend—you’ll fall in love with this place...
