A Hidden Gem Stumbled upon Wine & Larder in Ashgrove and wow, what a find! Their small plates menu is on point, and they've got a kickass lineup of cheese and meats. They don't just make food; they make food that you'll remember. Think European style wine bar with an easy-going touch. It’s got this cool, classy feel without being stuffy. Perfect for date night, or just relaxing with drink and friends. But what really sets this place apart is Mark, the owner and sommelier. He knows his wines like the back of his hand, and it shows in the awesome wine list he's put together. His team also deserves a shout out as they are super attentive and add to the great atmosphere. In a nutshell, Wine & Larder is a top-notch spot that won't break your wallet. Can highly recommend

Booked a table for 2 last minute on a Sat night - my husband and I are locals and have heard of this hidden gem. So glad we tried it because it was amazing. Service was on point. The young gent who served us was very knowledgeable on wines. Food was brilliant - the crispy potatoes and fresh focaccia holy wow. We also got the oysters and scallop which were delish. Do recommend the jalapeños dressed oyster. Heaters beside us outside made for a cute date night to celebrate our anniversary. Only down side which can’t be prevented was it was a little loud in alley. We struggled a little bit to hear each other. Food and wine far outweighed that part though.

Very cool wine bar in Ashgrove! Myself and my partner had the degustation with matching wine here. Firstly, the fit-out here looks great. It's definitely the coolest looking place in suburban Ashgrove. Secondly every wine was excellent and matched the food perfectly. Favourites were the Hently (Victoria) reisling and the Italian Soave. The food here was also very good, but perhaps not quite as good as the wine. Favourites were the corn bread starter and the lemon meringue dessert. The staff are also very friendly and are experts in the restaurant's wines and food. After the meal had a wine in the Alleyway bar, which is also very cool.

A suburban delight

How lucky are we to have The Wine & Larder as a local, walking distance restaurant/tapas bar. As my partner said last night after the second round of dishes came out - “Everything is always so good here”. The quality of the sourced produce is always exceptional as well as the innovative mix of flavours. Some nights we come for a restaurant dinner, sometimes a little earlier for wine and a mix of entrees as a tapas bar experience. All the staff, both front of house and in the kitchen are brilliant but what makes this place really special is Mark, the owner. His wine knowledge is encyclopaedic and he ensures there is always a different mix of Australian and overseas offerings on the menu to try. For regulars, he gets to know your taste preferences, and whether you are a bit adventurous (we are….mostly), and recommends accordingly. When pouring the wine he tells you about the winery, the wine maker and the key elements of the wine you are about to taste. We gave up choosing our own some time ago and now trust him to choose for us after giving him the basic information of whether we are after a crisp white or a more complex red. His choice has never failed us. If you want a great, yet casual dining experience The Wine & Larder should definitely be on your list….and you don’t have...

We contacted Mark to see if he would cater for a gathering of 12 to celebrate my 50th birthday. Mark's professional and responsive communication was awesome as he masterfully led us through ideas of personalizing a menu. We chose a combination of small to medium plates with guests finishing with a dessert. It truly was a spectacular event led by Jazz and her team. Our tables were beautifully prepared, all dishes were absolutely delicious and the desserts sublime. Our guests ordered drinks from the comprehensive drinks menu. We were all delighted, commenting how lucky we were to live close by such a wonderful food and wine paradise. Thank you to all the Wine and...
