I come to Burra from Clare occasionally for business and often grab a coffee from St Just cafe. Twice since the new owner/management have I actually ordered food. Both times were very disappointing. My most recent experience I ordered a big breakfast with extra bacon. Both sausage and bacon looked and tasted like they had been reheated in a microwave from leftovers from the previous day. The bacon was dry and so was the overcooked, reheated Woolies bbq sausage. The last owners used thick local Smoked Coopers bacon on sourdough. The bread was cheap bland white toast. If you look at their website it states that a big brekkie will cost you $18, it wasn’t, they charge $23.95 plus extras. You have taken over the business for a while now, stop being slack and update your website with the pricing. Finally, I will say that if you’re in Burra the place still has its charm, it is clean, the coffee is good but as for the cooked food, don’t bother ! Personally grab a bite from the bakery opposite. Such a shame new ownership seems to be ruining old tradition not only in Burra but in...
Read moreIt's quaint and cozy but felt sombre to be honest. We popped in for a pie and sausage roll for late lunch. Hubby said chicken reisling pie was nice. I had the sausage roll and got to say it was like mushy bread inside pastry, far too much bread and not enough "sausage" I couldn't eat it inspite it looked tasty. Carrot cake was average too. Dry and cold like it was in the fridge too long. I probably wouldn't choose this place again when we're passing though. Disappointed considering other reviews but maybe standards are different. The gift shop was lovely and the lady working there was pleasant. Thought the young girls working in the cafe part could be more welcoming and friendly smile...
Read moreThe cafes that we wanted to go to were closed so we ended up here. It was really busy during lunch time, and it joins with a very nice shop next door. Staff are friendly. Menu was pretty small. We ordered toasties and drinks, and we waited and waited maybe about 40 minutes so we asked whether our foods are coming. Surely they forgot to make our order, they apologised and made the food quite fast after. I just wished they gave us something small as apology because we ended up sitting there much longer than wanted. Otherwise toasties are ok, chicken avocado toasties were better than the turkey cranberry. Otherwise the place is nice to...
