My favorite cafe in Byron! I went there almost every day as the smoothie bowls are defo the best in town! Their prices are fair ($15 for a smoothie bowl, around $5 for a coffee). They have a big variety of vegan and/or GF food. They care about sustainability and most of what they sell is local. Tried most smoothie bowls and loved them all but the Pitaya one is my favorite. I tried the matcha latte as well as several iced lattes (chai iced latte was my favorite) and even their dandelion latte which was recommended by the staff. Speaking of which, the staff was absolutely lovely. It’s self service so you have to queue up and later on pick up your food and drinks from the counter. They are really fast. Quick tip: try to go either before 10 or after 11:30 as 10-11:30 is really crowded. Only thing they could do better is longer opening hours

"Wow! The General Scramble" at Byron General Store is an absolute delight! This dish is a vibrant celebration of flavors, starring glossy, perfectly cooked chilli scrambled eggs, a fresh and zesty herb rocket salad drizzled with just the right amount of chilli oil, and served with delicious sourdough bread. The creamy eggs, the peppery rocket, and that fantastic chilli kick create a taste sensation that will leave you wanting more. But it's not just the food that shines! The staff are incredibly attentive and friendly, making you feel right at home. And you can tell the kitchen is staffed with some seriously skilled individuals – the care and precision in every element of the dish are evident. "The General Scramble" is a must-try, showcasing the best of Byron General Store's culinary talent and warm hospitality!

There is a lot of hype for this cafe; prior to coming to Byron this was on my list via recommendations. Unfortunately, it did not live up to the hype. Service was nonexistent, there was no transparency of additional fees. The peanut butter bowl was delicious, but the coffee was overpriced and not to standard. You'll be lucky to find a seat if you come on the weekend. If you do, avoid a rainy day because you'll be forced to stand in the rain until someone decides to take pity on you and vacate their spot so you can sit and order. Even after an overdue wait to be seated, we were then pressured to leave so that others weren't in the same position as we had been. Honestly a disappointing experience and improvement needed.

I've been here twice now and the service really lets this place down. There is a sign at the door saying 'wait for takeaway or to be seated' and we were standing there in a line for 10 minutes before a worker came up and asked us why we were waiting and that we could just enter and order. The sign was still there today even though it obviously does not apply. Today we were told we needed to find a seat and get a table number before we ordered, but the tables do not have numbers on them and when we ordered we were told we have to come to the counter to collect our own food and drinks anyway. My friend and I ordered the same drink (cold brew) but received two different drinks (hers I could not find on the menu but had coconut cream in it and garnish). This just highlights how inconsistent the service is. On top of that the person who took my order seemed totally disinterested and did not even look me in the eye one time, making her come across as if she was not paying attention. The system of collecting your own food when your name is called is flawed due to the loud, busy nature of the place and the way that the space is broken up (i.e if I am sitting out the front there's no way I could hear my name being called from inside.) Consistent staff training and a food runner would be a great start to fixing these issues. The food itself was well done and the coffee/beverages are also...

One star for the fit out and one star for the bathroom.

Whoever had the idea of the shout peoples names out to collect their own meals for an eat in establishment confuses me. Our meals were ordered at the same time and my partner had finished her salad before I even received my acai bowl, mind you they were both ordered under the same name and same order.

As far as my partners salad goes, she ordered it vegan (which is an option on the menu) only to receive it with an egg. The happily said they would remake it, all well and good mistakes happen, however when she received the remade salad there was still pieces of the poached egg littered throughout the salad, it's clear they just removed the egg and didn't remake the salad, what would happen if she was highly allergic to eggs? Not to mention made a vegan eat egg.

Barista had a bad attitude and decided not to call out my partners name, potentially because its uncommon, which left me with a cold coffee.

Not sure what the go with the amount of waste created is either. My partner had to specifically request a mug and not a takeaway cup for a dine in coffee, the salad came in a biopak container and the acai bowl came in a fancy ceramic bowl, could use some continuity?

Acai bowl was average, wont...

Really disappointed with this place, having ordered and paid for our food, we returned to our table to find we had been moved and that "it was about to get loud".

Two men then dismantled the outside area next to us, unscrewing all the tables on the deck with drills, before digging out a raised bed. The screech of power tools and sound of spades dragging along tarmac three feet from you isn't the perfect accompaniment to what could've otherwise been a nice lunch. The food was decent, the staff seemed friendly enough and I liked pretty much everything else about the place. It was just totally ruined by our experience.

Not once were we warned beforehand or even approached during. Seems a really questionable decision by management to conduct maintenance during a lunch service, especially given the place was due to close just over an hour later at 2...

N.B. (For owner) The arrogant response from the owner only typifies the behaviour experienced.

Construction and noise may well be a fact of life, but should absolutely not be undertaken in the same area as food being served/cooked, there is no excuse that justifies this.

I thought customer experience and at least the health and safety of your patrons would be your...
