Not coming back…sadly, because I find that the vibe of the place in general is lovely. Came for breakfast, looked up menu in advance on their website and right away ordered banana bread. When it came it was not quite as described. No fresh caramelised banana, no seasonal berries. Then I looked at paper menu to cross check and it was completely different description. But well, my fault, should not have assumed website is latest/correct, but I think it’s important to keep things up to date to avoid such confuses. That could have been worse than a mere dissapointment in case people have food allergies etc. Also $14 for a piece of bread with a spoon of ricotta…not sure it’s a good value. I like sweet stuff for breakfast, but this was not just sweet, this was a sugar bomb. Everyone’s different, so, again, have no right to complain here. Would though be nice if it’s paired with something like unsweetened Greek yogurt to balance it out. Even coffee didn’t help me… When it comes to service. I had a feeling that the guy taking my order was slightly arrogant and impatient. I have also explicitly asked that I would like food and the coffee to be served together, not separately. And, of course…drum roll…my coffee has arrived first. I said to a lovey lady that brought the coffee that I have asked it to come with food. And I have been told “oh, we can’t actually do it, we are 2 different departments”…well, shouldn’t then I have been told about it by the guy who was taking my order? No problem, fair enough, I would have just ordered separately after my food is on the table, but he hasn’t even mention to me it could be an “issue” when I was ordering 🤷♀️ Disappointed… not the best start for the day ahead…

Bayleaf does it again, and again and again... Easily the most delicious breakfast menu we have ever laid our eyes on. Drinks list and food menu is astonishingly ambitious, well executed and vibrant. A wide selection of fabulous foods are available, original drink concepts and unique marriage of flavours across the board. This place is usually busy, a 15min wait seems like a very reasonable compromise to sit and enjoy not only a buzzing vibe, great music and chic Decor, but fast service, exceptional presentation of food & drink, and they cater to whatever your dietary needs may be. There needs to be a Bayleaf in every city in Australia as it puts your regular boring "avo on toast" spots to absolute shame. 10stars

A wonderful spot off Byron’s high street. Great food and coffee menu - everything we had was fantastic. After brunch one day, we went back again for baked goods as it was so good! The okonomiyaki was just fantastic, and great with the added egg. The daily special of potato salmon cakes also very flavoursome. The baked goods were very fresh, the muffin was still warm from the oven! The scroll had lovely bouncy dough and home made vegemite. Coffee is lovely too, and made with happy soy boy for soy drinkers. Good range of seats and takeaway options, friendly staff, plus space to bring dogs or kids outdoors too. I’ll definitely be coming back next time I’m in Byron!

Definitely the best place for breakfast in Byron! We were greeted warmly and even though the place was busy, there was no problem finding the three of us a table. Promptly water was brought and our coffees were ordered. I had the best brewed chai that I can remember having. The quality of the food was excellent- all three of our group were so happy with their choices, including one gluten-free person who was impressed with the options. The service was consistently friendly and prompt and the atmosphere in the cafe is cool. A wide range of people having great food and catch ups. Highly recommend this place and I'll be back next time I'm in Byron.

Extremely overpriced, they "respecfully decline alterations to the menu" and charge 10% extra on Saturday and 15% more on Sundays. To be very clear, the place was so packed that you needed to wait 20 mins to get a seat. At that point, the owners are just having a laugh charging those costs to cover their labour expenses on weekends. $60 (id be happy with that kind of GP as a cafe owner)for 2 x Bacon and eggs on toast, and after all that, you get charged an eftpos fee, and the cheek of it is that the machine then comes up with a "tip amount"... We dont do tips in Aus for a good reason. Let's not condone this rubbish.
