I was extremely impressed on my first visit here. The Tumeric latte I was served was probably the best one I’ve ever had - it was flavoursome, thick enough, almond milk steamed perfectly, with just the right amount of spice/sweet combo you want when going for this less than traditional cafe option. I also frothed (excuse the pun) when I saw how beautifully it was presented with a cinnamon stick and star anise placed carefully on top. 10 out of 10 there, and I haven’t even started on the crepes!!! Wow! They were huge! Much to my delight, the fillings were ample and quality. No dodgy cheap fillers or sauces here, just fresh, tasty, healthy options with a delicate balance of flavour that really made your tastebuds sing! We had the Chicken & Avo with balsamic glaze and the Salmon & Goats Cheese option (not sure what these are called on the actual menu). The Goats cheese wasn’t at all overpowering and the balsamic glaze gave a nice kick to the chicken crepe. They were delightfully crispy on the outside, without the insides being too wet or dry. I really recommend getting a crepe to share between your girlfriends for a light lunch, or order two if your out on a date, or if you’re a bit hungrier. Definitely worth a try and will 100% go back for more next time...
Read moreThe story of how we ended up having breakfast at Cafe Strada is quite inconsequential, but the meal we had was world class.
I’m from North America so prefer hot filtered coffee. Unfortunately this isn’t commonly available in Australia aside from on airplanes, but cold filtered coffee is finally making inroads. Cafe Strada has the best cold brew coffee I’ve had in Australia.
The crepes were recommended so I had the breakfast crepe with kangaroo prosciutto. I have never had kangaroo prosciutto and was intrigued by it. Traditional pork prosciutto is highly reliant on fat which is something kangaroo meat is not known for. I was shocked at how good it tasted. Didn’t have that strong heme flavor kangaroo is know for. Unfortunately I got into it before I could take a picture.
After enjoying our breakfast so much we caved and decided to reclassify our meal as brunch. This made dessert was an option. We opted for the blackforrest crepe. Amazingly good. Worth a visit.
This is a delightful restaurant and a top choice for breakfast in Cairns. Well...
Read moreI was on my way to another area, but when I walked by Café Strada, and saw they were doing crepes, as a French citizen/gourmet, I had to stop to give it a go... And I'm glad I did!
They have 3 separate areas to sit at: indoors which is the main one and is beautifully decorated with nice colors, dimmed lights, and plants; a small terrace on the street side; and a bigger and nicer one court side They have Wi-Fi available Toilets too, with quality paper (rare enough to mention) Nice music in the background (just loud enough to enjoy it if paying attention, not too loud) Staff is efficient
And the last but not the least, the food and drinks indeed: Drinks: coffee, tea, chocolate, milkshakes, thickshakes, smoothies, alcohol... Food: savory crepes, sweet crêpes, all day breakfast, toasts, cakes... I personally had a Nutella crepe with a mixed berry smoothie And a breakfast crepe (100% organic buckwheat flour gluten free)l with a mixed berry smoothie Everything looked good, everything tasted good It definitely got my French seal of...
