We had been greatly looking forward to trying this Thai restaurant for some time. The news is not all bad, but there were notable issues that I must state here, in what is, & must be, a totally honest review. In general the food was OK.....the spring rolls excellent, cooked well & with a nice dipping sauce. The Som Tam, though, was somewhat out of balance - lacked any real fish sauce flavour component, & had a much too predominant flavouring of Tamarind paste, this from my partner, who is well used to Som Tam in all its variable states. On to the Kao Soi Chicken curry - what could be nicer than a Kao Soi? Sadly, and for reasons unknown, the curry was extremely heavily flavoured with what was, very definitely, curry powder in abundance. This is the first time in a great many years that we have experienced this, & in every other instance have clearly noted a fresh paste as the basis of our Kao Soi - the only caveat I can think of, might be that this could be an old family recipe that the restaurant uses, such as can often be used by many a restaurant with many a dish. We didn't like it, although I note when looking through the reviews, no one else seems to have picked up on this Curry Powder issue, for reasons I'm unsure about, additional to so many overall satisfied & positive reviews. I waited a few days before posting this review, and, as mentioned, there is plenty to like about Finn Finn, & there is a very long list of people to attest to this. We would go back again, but would order more selectively. Recommended alongside...

Me and my friend dined in few weeks ago. Ordred 4 dishes. Overall taste was nice but few things are a bit down.
King prawn Pad thai; best Pad Thai in my life (Im a big fan of Pad Thai) but couldnt taste any prawn in pad thai thought prawns poached in advance and finished with Pad Thai at the last moment(quite dry).
Salted duck egg papaya salad; disappointed, papaya cut by knife, very irregular big chunks. Taste was still alright, but the salted egg was way too salty. Just had one small bite and left all, couldnt eat.
Massaman curry; excellent flavour, but small portion.
Fried pork belly; very nice for entree or snack for beer.
Best thing was the lady at the front. Looks like she is the owner and gave us exceptional service 11/10.
Quite nice atmosphere but if you sit outside hotel guest can spot you from the...
Read moreA hidden gem in Cairns and the only place that serves southern Thai dishes. Dry mince curry (khua kling)= perfection. Not as hostile spice-wise compared to the ones in southern Thailand but insanely aromatic and savoury. Southern crab curry with khanom jeen was perfection, lacking wild betel leaves (chaploo) but still.. savoury, sweet and peppery! Only dish lackluster was the tower of porkbones in lime/green chili/coriander sauce.. It was tasty but not as abrasively spicy as the Central Thai food trendy kind but that it's purely because of Aussies being baby spice when it comes to chili heat. Overall the place is a hidden secret in Cairns and it's so worthy to find. Also service was insanely good and we were well attended. This place is a hidden gem in Cairns and i recommend everyone to try it. Thank you for a...
