Harbourside Bar & Kitchen — Restaurant in Queensland

Greeted by what I can only describe as the most uninterested person in cairns. I produced a gift card and wanted to double check that we could use it before we ordered. The website stated that we could use it in the restaurant but we obviously wanted to make sure. The waitress advised that she had never seen it before but we could try. We went outside to have a look at the menu, then cane back in to order. The same waitress that I had just spoken to a few minutes previously suddenly had amnesia and had no idea what the card was. I reminded her of the conversation we just had. Once I had ordered it took a further 15mins for the payment to be processed but to no avail and in the meantime more customers had gathered at the bar.. Which she ignored.. And then she disappeared for a few minutes with no warning leaving myself and the other customers bemused.... Upon arrival she brandished another eftpos machine and said try that..... Alas it worked... The food.. Warm fish on cold chips. $27.00..woukd hate to see what ye charge...

It was horrible food and serving timing. 18:00 We ordered one of steak($42) and fish red curry($36) It came out around 18:35 but fish was cold and looked like precooked fish (hard texture) and they just made red curry and put on top. It looked like not a restaurant food even fast food is much warmer and delicious than that.

When ate half of the fish red curry my wife find out a fly(Don't know what was it exactaly looked like fly) We told that to one of staff member. She was kind and she told us she could give us on the house drink.

That's why we ordered a food and drinks as well.

After 15mins we asked do you cooking and give us drink? but they did not know about our order then try to making my drink at that time.

Food came out after over 10mins.(took over 25mins again)

However the lingunie was cold and stick together and cream was too thick then we did not eat even 30%

We were in the restaurant around 2hours with bad food and wasting time.

It was my worst experience in Cairns...

Love the interesting wine list- the whole reason we went- but train up staff to serve it!!

After getting excited reading the wine list, then ordering, it took a while for the bar staff to find it. Fair enough. Then a while to find a bottle opener. Then some help explaining how to use it. (Without removing the wax sealing the cork) After the server told me “ its a natural wine so sediment is normal” pompously- sorry, but large crescents of the wax you tipped into my glass isn’t sediment! Loved the wine! Will still return for further explorations. Great location
