Upon arrival to the restaurant, I was shocked to see that the closed sign was on display albeit their opening hours stating otherwise and a few customers sitting inside. I walked in anyway and was immediately slapped in the face with an eerie sense of confusion… where are the servers? Why are there customers with no sign of workers in sight? A young lady approaches, asking if we were dining in and sat us down. I proceeded to look at the menu and ordered a chirashi don, assorted tempura and a yakitori meal. Food arrived semi quickly after more random workers started to appear out of the blue, did their part and vanished… food quality was great, taste was great, HOWEVER, portion sizes were laughably small that I think I couldve devoured 3 meals and still have space for dessert. Pictures included ( note that the CHIRASHI don was served on a semi flat plate, barely any rice, and I was under the impression I had been served a sashimi platter instead! Oh, and all of that costed close to $90...
Read moreWow. Just wow. If you are looking for a hidden gem of Japanese dining, this is it. As you walk in, you are greeted by friendly, attentive staff who seem to want to improve your experience. The atmosphere is calming, peaceful, and relaxing. They don't serve alcohol but cater to BYO, and there is a lovely little bottle shop across the carpark with a nice selection. The food is beautifully presented. It's obvious the chef takes great pride in their work. They are clearly very selective in their produce. Of all the dishes we have tried, their sashimi is incredible. Some of the best I've had in Perth. Not everyone's cup, I know, but even if it isn't, get a small plate of the salmon and give it a crack with your table. Most importantly, they have fresh soy! If you know, you know. It's fast becoming one of my favourite places to dine. They also have takeaway sushi trays next door if you don't have time to dine and have delivery options...
Read moreGross, appalling... what else. Ive given it 3 goes and never again. God knows how they get positive reviews. Like others have stated, the sushi train is sad... poor selection, put together like its been dropped and generally gross... ingredients are cooked in old oil, not fresh, poorly balanced. He tries to cover all sons with copious amounts of mayo. I've watched the chef cut open the bag of factory prepared meats and slop them out onto his dirty cutting board, I watched him pack all the left over sushi from the train at closing into takeaway containers... I assume for the following day. The teryaki sauce is literally a jelly. Tonight I ordered sushi from the menu... again just gross. When I noted it was missing the heaped tobiko on top, I was informed it was just decorative and they don't really put it on. 🙄 they must survive on the very Australian locals who don't know any...
