Visited here 3 times before Covid: amazing experiences, good food. Good service. Venue: free parking at street. Need reservations. Good vibe, but noisy. Comfy seating. LED candlelit dinner. --- 7.8/10 Service: full booking. The waiter provided better service with smiles. No need to wait long for each course. --- 7.8/10 Food: Degustation, set, or a large carte menu are available. All meals are served with bread and butter. Still and sparkling water is included. Gorgeous food presentation. Not using edible flowers now. Normal portion. Reasonable price. 3 course fix price dining, $78. - extraly ordered pasta for toddlers: came first. Didn't try, but it looked good. - Complimentary Bread: soft and fresh. - a small shot of refresher before entrees: There is chopped apple and beetroot with cream on the top. Lack of flavor. Too much cream for us. Previous soup was much better. --- 5/10 ~ Entrees 1) Tartlet with Duck Liver Pate with Plum, Peach & Red Onion Chutney, and gherkins. Good to have it with toast. Smooth texture. 2) Prawn Cocktail with Fennel & Orange Salad and tomato Sherbet. Fennel wasn't overpowering. Small prawns were cut half and so slightly affected the texture. --- 7.8/10 3) Asian Popcorn Chicken: slightly over cooked chicken. Pretty hard to cut through. ~ Mains 1) Beef Fillet Steak: cooked to medium-rare as we ordered. Beef was good. Peppercorn crust was burnt and tasteless to me. --- 8.5/10 2) Skin-on Baramundi: well-cooked. Decent dish, taste, and presentation. --- 8.3/10 ~ Desserts 1) Chocolate Ganache Tart with Blood Orange Sorbet: The Tart had been cracked when served. Same Tart base with Duck Liver Tartlet Entree. Chocolate Ganache was too firm. Sorbort was good. I need a bit more Sorbet. --- 7.7/10 2) Red Wine Poached Pear with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream: half-cut pear with seeds. Not very impressed. Creamy ice cream. --- 7.5/10

We had the degustation menu for our wedding anniversary, after recommendation from my son and from the reviews. The service was impeccable and the dishes were served very timely. The place has an intimate feeling to it. On to the courses: Salmon Graviax Tartare - beautiful presentation and the flavours were nicely balanced. Great start to the menu. Vitello Tonnato - a 3 bite size dish that we enjoyed thoroughly both in taste and texture. Veal was cooked perfectly and fried capers a great match. Skin-on Barramundi Fillet - white wine sauce and lemon myrtle glaze was a pleasing combination. However, fish was under-seasoned/flat and over-cooked. Salted almond praline tasted a tad sweet and felt out of place. Lamb Rump Wellington - dish was brilliantly conceived, rosemary jus, cucumber and watermelon worked together so well. Unfortunately the pastry was burnt and introduced an unwelcome bitterness to the party. Mandarin tart and raspberry sorbet - we were hoping for a nice ending to an evening of hits and misses - the sorbet was fantastic but the tart was doughy. So there were 2 hits and 3 misses which was disappointing. We don't expect perfection but would have preferred more hits than misses for such a menu. Overall, I think the menu was well conceived but let down by basic mistakes in the execution.

We’ve had the opportunity to dine at Juniper & Bay on numerous occasions, by ourselves, with family and with friends, and they have never failed to impress us with their hospitality, the quality of the food or the creativity of the dishes. They do a two course serving for $68 or three courses for $87, which, given the amazing dishes, is great value. Water, sparkling or still, is free, as is the freshly baked bread. We went with the prawn bisque soup & grilled scallops to start with, followed by the lamb ‘Wellington’ and beef fillet steak. Before our entrees arrived we were provided with an amuse bouche, in the form of a delightful watermelon gazpacho, which certainly awoke my palate. The bisque soup was silky smooth however the scallops took my breath away, so plump, moist & delicious. Both our mains were perfectly cooked, moist and pink but it was the sauces/jus that really elevated the meat. The side dish of duck fat potatoes was moorish. Our deserts, red wine poached pear, and ‘gin and tonic’ were the perfect end to our meal. My wife absolutely loved the gin espuma & granita but the cucumber jelly and dill sorbet again elevated it to an amazing dessert. I highly recommend dining at Juniper & Bay, it is one of our favourites - will be back again and again.

When we arrived, the Restaurant was in darkness, chaos and boiling hot due to a power outage, however we were advised the power would soon be back on, so we felt empathy for the staff and owner so stayed and had cocktails each ...there were 6 of us. It was clear after 45 mins that the power was not going to come back on, so we decided to try and make a reservation somewhere else close by, was 8.15pm by this time. When we went to leave my son who made the booking was charged full price $100 for the cocktails, he was disappointed but didn't want to put the young staff member under any more stress. So, the next day I messaged the owner and explained the situation to which I then had a full onslaught of abusive messages, how I was a very mean and angry person and how he had lost thousands of dollars in lost seafood etc . I have record of these messages and not at any time was I unempathetic to his situation, I just said it was disappointing to not even get a 20% discount on the cocktails considering we had to find another restaurant in a hurry and how we had given them a chance to see if power came back on. My son is the one who suggested to leave this review, just be cautious as the owner will not be nice if you have any issues at all and he is very abusive. He said that my message was a kick in the balls! Which is incredibly unprofessional. He also said he would copy all my messages and send to my son who had booked the place, how weird is that! I will never go back to try the food. And we were all truly sorry for the situation of no power. Big shout out to the amazing Italian Restaurant Casa Delizia across the road who managed to squeeze us in at short notice and cook the most delicious food!

I expected a reply full of lies which I got ( see below)and Western Power was not on site at the time of arrival, we were told they would be arriving soon. Look at the reviews that are not so good and the owner will fight back ...pathetic behavior! I was empathetic /sympathetic in the restaurant. My son also wanted to leave a review but i told him just leave it but maybe he should. This owner is nasty and only cares about himself...

Had an extremely disappointing experience this evening at Juniper & Bay. We had eaten at the restaurant previously and throughly enjoyed the food but tonight cancelled out those previous good experiences. Not only was the food not up to the usual standard the response to the substandard food was appalling. I had roast duck for my main which was incredibly dry to the point I left half the meal uneaten - this was ignored by the waitress who only inquired after my partners meal and did not ask if there was any issue with my uneaten food. Then dessert - I ordered the lemon meringue which I needed a chisel to eat more like a supermarket bought meringue than one you expect from a restaurant. On clearing the dishes from dessert the waitress asked if everything was ok - my partner at this time was away from the table so I responded that I was disappointed with the dessert and previous course. I saw the waitress communicate this to the chef. We went up to pay with the chef who made no acknowledgement of my feedback and asked if we had enjoyed the meal. I responded that the duck had been very dry and not enjoyable - the chef then went into mansplaining that I did not culturally understand duck. I grew up in Europe and I said I have been eating duck since I was a child - this was ignored and the mansplaining continued and apparently the chef cannot guarantee the quality of the food?! By this point I had grown tired of the conversation and being patronised and just wanted to pay and get out of there. I know that every restaurant/business has off days - to me the measure of a good restaurant is how they respond to the feedback they ask for. To be ignored and patronised when asked for your opinion is rude and extremely poor customer service. Sadly this experience has completely changed my opinion of Juniper and Bay and I will certainly not be giving them my custom again. There are many high quality restaurants in Perth these days and the response I was given tonight shows this establishment is not worth...
