I booked this restaurant for Feb 1 at noon for 8 people for my husband's birthday. I received an email confirmation the day prior. Our party arrived at the restaurant at noon only for the restaurant to be "closed for stocktaking until 5pm." We ended up going to the cooma hotel (which was great!).
We are new to the area and Mexican is our favourite food, so my husband and I thought that the two of us would return for dinner. We were disappointed. We ordered the Totopas, chicken tacos, and birria questaco. The guacamole was great, but all of the other dishes were severely lacking flavour. Mexican food is so flavourful with chipotle, cumin, ancho chillies, etc, but this was not. We needed to use so much of the habenero sauce on the table to add flavour. During our meal, two men came and ordered meals and during their ordering process, they were presented with an option to chose the spice levels of their dishes. This was not an option presented to my husband and I (I'm not entirely sure why). Also, we had to ask for clean cutlery.
I have terrible social anxiety, so we found it difficult to give feedback in person. But we won't be coming back. Additionally, the Paloma cocktail was OK, but it wasn't prepared as advertised (no...
Read moreAbsolutely delicious! I was so excited to come across this place in our recent visit to Cooma. This place reminded me so much of the little family restaurants and taquerias we ate at growing up in The States. ☺️🤤 (It took me ages to decide which main to get, there were so many old favourites!)
My husband and I enjoyed the chimichanga (with chicken) and the chilaquiles (w/chilli con carne) and for drinks a horchata and mexicolada. Everything was fresh made and oh so tasty. We both had minor dietary requirements but they were easily communicated and followed.
The staff were lovely and able to answer all our questions (my husband can't have corn, but there were plenty of menu options for him still) and the restaurant was clean and tidy. Do be sure to check out this establishment of you're in the area. There are so few places in Australia where you can get this level of authentic...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Mezcals Tequila Bar & Restaurant in Cooma, and I was thoroughly impressed. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, perfect for a casual meal. The food was absolutely fantastic. I ordered a chimichanga, and it was hands down one of the best I've ever had. The filling was flavorful and the shell was crispy. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, especially when it came to my picky child. They happily created a custom burrito to suit their tastes. Another major plus is its proximity to the supercharger. If you're in the area and need to charge your electric vehicle, Mezcals is the perfect place to grab a bite to eat while you wait. Overall, I highly recommend Mezcals Tequila Bar & Restaurant. It's a must-visit for anyone looking for delicious Mexican...
