A wonderful experience. Unusual setting. (You enter from a small portico off the street that looks like a bottle shop not a top restaurant.) But once inside, the friendly and very competent meal service, the rustic wine cellar/bar atmosphere and most of all the truly stunning wine service will put paid to any initial doubts you may have had. No wonder its booked solid most of the time. We had a party of 15 in the private dining room at the back of the restaurant. We were served by Jack Jens, the owner. Jack is John's youngest son. John was there as well. Bonus đđ We took John and Jack's advice on the wines for the evening and we were not disappointed. J & J J run a hugely successful premium wine business from this location, (they run a 60 seat restaurant on the side!đ¤) Some older folk will remember that John Jens ran Coppins Fine Wine Cellars on the corner of Irvine St and Stirling Hwy for many years. No wonder he knows his winesđ A great time was had by all. Congratulations to "triple J" and staff A...
Read moreMy family and I have been loyal clients to Lamonts for many years. Unfortunately on our last ever encounter, we experienced very unprofessional and rude conduct from John the manager. His delivery was extremely hostile towards one of our older family members who could not speak English. In this, he repeatedly put his hands on her in an enroaching manner. He also began to verbally attack me when I had no part in the discussion. This has been very upsetting for my whole family and itâs a shame that we will never go there again.
Might I add, we were in the process of logging into her myGov and Medicare account to show proof of her vaccination. Whilst this occurred, John kept interrupting, was persistently aggressive and very inappropriate. Our whole family has been double vaccinated so we have abided by the rules in place. We do hope that no one else ever has to go through this experience, as it was an extremely distressing encounter for our older family member who John had directed his...
Read moreGreat atmosphere but food and service was not so great. Went with 4 friends to special wine dinner last night. 3 out of 5 courses lovely but 'Duck with shitake mushrooms and bric pastry' dreadful sadly. Came as just a shredded lump on small plate. When asking where bric pastry was told it had been mixed in (??). No crisp pastry no notable mushrooms - texture and smell of cat food. Let the rest of the menu down. Last course also not so good. Our waiter couldn't have been less interested in being there. I had to get up to ask for more water as he stood with back to us for most of night. Lovely female waitress but we weren't really in her section. Refered to our waiter as the grumpy one. Hopefully they will do some changes to fix menu. Slices of duck with tamari glaze on bric pastry - now that's what I...
