I’ve been coming to this café every week and usually have a great experience with the female staff they’re always friendly, and my order is handled smoothly. A few weeks ago, they forgot part of my order, and I had to wait about 15 minutes, but they apologized, and it seemed like an honest mistake, so I didn’t mind.

However, today was different. I ordered from a male staff member for the first time and planned to sit outside. After stepping out, I decided to move inside because it was too cold. As I walked past the counter, I overheard him speaking with a female staff member, saying, “She’s a bit…” before stopping when I walked by. Maybe it wasn’t about me, but it felt odd that he stopped mid-sentence when I passed.

Then, while I was seated, the same female staff member asked if it was okay to vacuum. The café wasn’t busy, so I was surprised—I mean, are they even allowed to vacuum while customers are eating? I didn’t want to be difficult, so I just said it was fine.

The real issue was my order. I waited about 20 minutes for an iced matcha and a pastry—something that should be quick to prepare. When I finally went to check, I found out they hadn’t even started making it. The male staff member and the girl he was chatting with were gone, and another female staff member at the counter apologized for the mistake.

I don’t usually assume bad intentions, but it really felt like my order was ignored. Maybe the male staff member didn’t like that I wasn’t overly chatty or friendly enough for him—but honestly, customers shouldn’t have to perform friendliness to get good service. I was polite and smiling as always, but I’m not a native speaker, so I can’t always engage in small talk the same way.

It’s disappointing because I actually liked this place. Hopefully, this was just an unfortunate experience and...

I purchased take away curry that includes naan bread, a salad and dips. Paid $23. Asked a lady on the counter if this is enough to share for 2 people. On which she responded yes it is and its big portions. When my order had arrived and I saw a half empty container of rice and greasy oily curry(there was probably 1 cm of oil on top of it) with no salad and dips. I was disappointed and went back to shop to get them to include salad dips and to top up the curry and rice. Lady was defensive and didn't want to top it up saying that's how much it comes in take away container, it's only big anount for two people to share if you eat in store. Didn't apologiesed but was unwelcome and defensive.

I asked if I could speak with the manager, but she replied there was no manager in the store. On which I requested a full refund of 23 dollars, because the amount of curry and rice they gave wasn't worth $10 never mind $23.

when I requested a refund the lady said ok we can top it up for you and will include salad and dips. As if they are making me a favor, when they have stuffed up by forgeting to add dips and salad and gave me misleading information.

Once I received my order fully completed, salad was only red onions chopped in cubes with some spices over it and there was only 1 Table spoon of a dip and 1 naan bread. I ended up throwing the whole take away in the bin because I don't trust they didn't spit on food or curse it because they were so defensive and did not want to fix their mistake.

I wouldn't recommend this...

This is our 2nd visit to Café XOXO and we are even more thrilled after Cradle Mountain. Landing back in this iconic restaurant reminds me of trips to a Himalayan café with all the class and vibe of great cuisine, mostly from Pakistan and Korea; topped with European Coffee and Cakes. This place is a “winter Zen zone”; like Everest it has amazing allure! XOXO is not just a coffee shop; it is a Tasting Platter to the world!

It attracts a diversity of people; all ages and cultures from around the world! The staff led by Ahmad and Morgan are all delightful and friendly, guiding you in the Menu; each of our 5 different dishes was perfect; style, flavour, quality and value! Oh, don’t forget the house made Lassi and Tumeric Chai Iced Coffee, they are both bold temptations! Whether full or almost empty, the CBD Mall venue has amazing ambience! Just like the other Spirit of Tasmania docked just over the Mersey River, this upper level restaurant is well worth waiting for a seat; either by the fire, or tables sized for couples or groups. I wanted to lounge more; pondering the Life of Pie, and Himalayan adventures; with colorful décor, lamps and wall hangings! At street level, the Café invites you in to explore the Meaning of Life and the passing of Time; Tik-Tok and Ceramics over Cakes and Coffee! Café XOXO has many WOW factors; I look forward to trying their...

The coffee was mediocre, and the service was terrible. Everything seemed normal from when we entered to placing the order. Since we wanted to take away, we placed the order with a female staff member and then waited on the chairs in front of the pickup area. However, when the coffee was ready, the female staff member did not call us to pick up our order, did not call out the number, or even say, "Your order is ready." She just placed the iced drink on the pickup table. Even though it was obvious that it was our order as we were the only ones there, we were still quite displeased with this kind of attitude. When we went over to pick up the drink and said thank you, a male staff member was standing nearby and saw that we had to go get it ourselves. He did not offer an apology, nor did he respond to our thank you. It was a terrible experience. 服務很糟糕,奶昔做好不叫號,好像要客人自己過去問,我們自己拿走時道謝,店員連個回應都沒

Wandering around looking for lunch in Devonport we found this gem. With an eclectic menu of Indian, Afghan, Korean and the odd Australian iconic item, it made for some hard choices for lunch. My husband got the tandoori chicken roti wrap and I got the fried egg and spinach roti wrap. The roti was light, flaky and incredibly tasty. We also got some curry for take away dinner that night and some amazing cashew and pistachio baklava . From the quirky clocks ( available for sale!) , to the charming Staff, this was a pleasant surprise in Devonport. Parking is easy behind the restaurant and a restroom is there too. They’ve added Korean dishes too now which is awesome !

This is lovely cafe that doesn’t just sell awesome coffee. The house made turmeric chai latte is also a must try as it is creamy and full of flavour. The food is of exceptional quality, especially the Afghan curries and pratha. The only thing I wouldn’t recommend trying is the Korean cuisine on the menu as it is over priced, with not the best authentic flavour. My humble suggestion is the café should focus on what it does the best: coffees and Afghan cuisine.
