I’ve been coming to this café every week and usually have a great experience with the female staff they’re always friendly, and my order is handled smoothly. A few weeks ago, they forgot part of my order, and I had to wait about 15 minutes, but they apologized, and it seemed like an honest mistake, so I didn’t mind.
However, today was different. I ordered from a male staff member for the first time and planned to sit outside. After stepping out, I decided to move inside because it was too cold. As I walked past the counter, I overheard him speaking with a female staff member, saying, “She’s a bit…” before stopping when I walked by. Maybe it wasn’t about me, but it felt odd that he stopped mid-sentence when I passed.
Then, while I was seated, the same female staff member asked if it was okay to vacuum. The café wasn’t busy, so I was surprised—I mean, are they even allowed to vacuum while customers are eating? I didn’t want to be difficult, so I just said it was fine.
The real issue was my order. I waited about 20 minutes for an iced matcha and a pastry—something that should be quick to prepare. When I finally went to check, I found out they hadn’t even started making it. The male staff member and the girl he was chatting with were gone, and another female staff member at the counter apologized for the mistake.
I don’t usually assume bad intentions, but it really felt like my order was ignored. Maybe the male staff member didn’t like that I wasn’t overly chatty or friendly enough for him—but honestly, customers shouldn’t have to perform friendliness to get good service. I was polite and smiling as always, but I’m not a native speaker, so I can’t always engage in small talk the same way.
It’s disappointing because I actually liked this place. Hopefully, this was just an unfortunate experience and...
Read moreI purchased take away curry that includes naan bread, a salad and dips. Paid $23. Asked a lady on the counter if this is enough to share for 2 people. On which she responded yes it is and its big portions. When my order had arrived and I saw a half empty container of rice and greasy oily curry(there was probably 1 cm of oil on top of it) with no salad and dips. I was disappointed and went back to shop to get them to include salad dips and to top up the curry and rice. Lady was defensive and didn't want to top it up saying that's how much it comes in take away container, it's only big anount for two people to share if you eat in store. Didn't apologiesed but was unwelcome and defensive.
I asked if I could speak with the manager, but she replied there was no manager in the store. On which I requested a full refund of 23 dollars, because the amount of curry and rice they gave wasn't worth $10 never mind $23.
when I requested a refund the lady said ok we can top it up for you and will include salad and dips. As if they are making me a favor, when they have stuffed up by forgeting to add dips and salad and gave me misleading information.
Once I received my order fully completed, salad was only red onions chopped in cubes with some spices over it and there was only 1 Table spoon of a dip and 1 naan bread. I ended up throwing the whole take away in the bin because I don't trust they didn't spit on food or curse it because they were so defensive and did not want to fix their mistake.
I wouldn't recommend this...
