Chinese Inn — Restaurant in District of Belconnen

Having previously been burnt by Chinese Inn once before on some extremely bland and unrecognizable food I was prepared to just never order from there again. However, likely based on their diminishing reputation they now also operate a ghost kitchen on DoorDash as "Sum Dim Sum" and they're still at their antics. Firstly it was difficult to find the store as I walked right past Chinese Inn because I was looking for "Sum Dim Sum". Had to call them and they advised "yeah we're Chinese Inn".

I ordered a vegetable fried rice and wonton soup (6 wonton serving) for pick up. Their asking price was $30! Having only paid $20 after a voucher I was still unsatisfied.

By the by the Chinese Inn restaurant in-house menu and website list the price for the wonton soup as $7.60 and $9. I'm not sure if their "Fried rice" is the same thing as their doordash "vegetable fried rice" but from the look of what I received it would be. They want $9 for that too according to their website.

The wonton soup did not have any special container or gladwrap around it like most every other place does to preserve the contents during transport. It tipped over on the drive and half the soup spilled into the bag.

To their credit, DoorDash refunded the full price of the wonton soup without human intervention and the whole reporting process took a couple of minutes at most. Choices were immediate credit on my DD account or a cash refund on my card due within 7...

Absolutely terrible. As others have stated this is incredibly bland food. A dish labelled especially as (Spicy) on the menu, in fact has it twice in the name, "Spicy Chilli Lamb (Spicy)" - has absolutely no spice. I can barely, BARELY tell the difference between which dish is meant to be "King Island Fillet Steak with XO sauce" or "Spicy Chilli Lamb (Spicy)" in terms of flavour and the appearance of the meat. I'm not even entirely convinced they aren't the same meats. I can't tell them apart except one is thicker than the other - but the thick one seems to be the lamb dish. It makes no sense.

As for "King Island Fillet Steak" What's King Island about it? What's fillet steak about it? Looks and feels and tastes like the same cheap beef you get as 'beef with black bean sauce' at the non-descript places at some of the food courts in the shopping mall reduced down to $4 at the end of the day.

So I paid $35.30 for something I could have gotten for about $8 at a shopping mall. Usually I can say "oh well, I'm hungry" but I'm turned off by this and will not be finishing it tonight or reheating it tomorrow.

I'm blown away by how bad this food is. There is no way the people that run this restaurant eat the same food that they are serving. If they do, they must have given up on life because this is beyond depressing.

I'll be contacting Deliveroo and the restaurant. I would give this 0 stars if Google would let me. Absolutely no...

Menulog order - provided the wrong address not intentionally - contacted by the lovely driver - repeated and confirmed correct address twice clearly - had tip waiting for driver because of inconvenience- contacted driver as time went on- delivery of food to wrong address- told I said a different address- not correct- Menulog no help as restaurant have own driver and pack own food- even though paying through the service of Menulog. Advised to contact restaurant- started to explain- got spoke over the top of and restaurant raised voice said no refund through Menulog- explained situation-spoken over the top of again and told I was difficult- I asked if it was possible for me to speak as I was being spoken over the top of continuously. Raised voice again from restaurant and informed that I “made” delivery driver go to correct street 3 times? Was told to that restraint was not being rude as I asked them to stop speaking over the top of me please? Pleaded to please allow a refund through menulog as a voucher rather than physical money. NO! Offered to make food and drop off again - explained no one will receive due to shift work. NIL and VOID from menulog and restaurant - rude, not accomodating and caused unnecessary distress and left feeling victimised with the way I was spoken to (GASLIT)
