Food was good, but unfortunately service was terrible and this has been consistent the two times I have visited.
Booked a reservation and the staff were not welcoming or professional. Superiors would shoo their staff in front of us for being slow or in the way, whilst we had to flag down some one ourselves just to be seated after standing at the front of the line with service workers seeing us, yet not speaking to us or seating us.
Food was very good yet came out after approx a 45 min wait, and also didn't all come at the same time for our table. People were finished with their meal by the time the last meals for our table came out. They doubled up our order then when seeking clarification, were rude and huffed whilst walking away. I understand their system glitches must have been irritating whilst they were understaffed, but it was still unprofessional.
Because of the obvious stress and being understaffed with plenty of patrons, the atmosphere was brought down significantly.
Cakes and desserts were also an extra 20 minute wait on top of the 45 minute wait for food so there is an obvious understaffing issue. Sad as this has happened both times I have visited now, a couple months apart. It seems no improvement has been made.
Unfortunate as this place has so...
Read moreI used to frequent this cafe before COVID-19, and it was great, but unfortunately, it hasn't been the same under the new ownership. I recently ordered Eggs Benedict with bacon for two. The bacon arrived lukewarm, and I mentioned it to the staff, who offered to redo it. My partner's dish was the same, but she doesn't like to complain. The replacement was brought to the table without any comment from the server. This time, the bacon was almost hot, but instead of hollandaise sauce poured over the eggs like before, it was served cold in a ceramic dish straight from the fridge. It wasn't useful to put it on the eggs, as it would have cooled them down considerably.
It seems like the cafe is now serving pre-cooked or heated products from wholesalers without much care. On a previous visit, I ordered Eggs Benedict with ham, and it was just basic deli-style thin round ham, which was quite unappetizing. Sadly, I won't be returning, as I've been disappointed on multiple occasions. It's a shame because this place used to have a great selection of pastries and cakes, which are now...
Read moreWhat an incredible find. As an avid lover of coffee and desserts, Ricardo's is an absolute dream. Their baristas give justice to the ONA coffee beans they use and are professional and friendly. Staff were great and the desserts were absolutely divine.
I've always been a massive fan of Space Kitchen's desserts and the atmosphere and ambience is set the moment you walk in. The array of desserts on display is enticing and instantly makes you want to sit down and order one of everything. We eventually decided on the Salted Caramel dessert and the Opera - a plethora of flavours focusing mainly on hazelnut, caramel, chocolate and vanilla.
Everything was absolutely picturesque from the main meals, to brunch to the desserts and especially the coffee. It's not often I get excited about a cafe and their coffee, however Ricardo's is such a stand out against the multiple cafes Canberra has to offer. The place has reasonable pricing and every dollar is more than worth it.
Will definitely be visiting again soon and am keen to see what else they...
