We are always on the hunt for specialty coffee and love anywhere that roasts their own beans. We were given a tip to head here by our friends at the Origin Corner.
Redbrick opened up four coffee stores selling specialty coffee. We visited Clay Coffee, on David Street in Turner, Canberra, ACT. It is located at the bottom of an apartment complex, with ample parking outside and plenty of place to sit outdoors (or a few benches inside). The coffee shop sells coffee roasted in their own roastery in Fyshwick, making for unique flavours and a quality cup of coffee. This place is perfect for the coffee enthusiast amongst us.
We love the uniqueness of this venue, where you can actually select your preferred blend before they make your coffee. Whether you prefer classic, sweet, rich or complex, speak to the baristas and they’ll help you decide. The Multi coffee option for your milk based includes the following; Malt and caramel, coffee and chocolate, candy berries.
You can also buy yourself some beans to go, an environmentally friendly keep cup or other coffee merchandise whilst...
Read moreI bought a jumbo sized flat white coffee because I really needed the caffeine hit, unfortunately there wasn't really a detectable taste of coffee, just a slightly weird tasting milky flavour. I can normally muscle my way through and drink on, but it was just a bit too off-putting for me and I had to throw it out as I felt queasy. Perhaps they didn't pour enough coffee shots commensurate with the size of the drink, but I agree with a previous reviewer, if you like the taste of coffee, buy it elsewhere. The staff were very pleasant and the drink was made quickly, service was fast and prices were what you would expect. Waiting area was comfortable enough on a cold Canberra morning. The food looked good but I didn't buy any. Maybe they do other drinks better, but as coffee is a baseline for a cafe, and Australians are usually coffee sophisticated, their business will suffer if they continue to...
Read moreClay is hands down one of my favorite spots in Canberra. The atmosphere is always so warm and welcoming, it strikes that perfect balance between cozy and vibrant.
What really sets Clay Cafe apart, though, is the staff. Every single person I've met there has been incredibly friendly, genuine, and down to earth. You don’t just feel like another customer! They actually take the time to chat, remember your order, and make you feel at home. It’s rare to find that kind of service these days, and it’s a big part of why I keep coming back.
And the coffee? Absolutely top-notch. Smooth, rich, and consistently well-made. Whether you're grabbing a quick takeaway or lingering over a cup with friends, it never disappoints.
Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area. Whether you're a local or just passing through, Clay Cafe is the kind of place that instantly makes you feel like part of...
