Charcoal Rooster — Restaurant in District of Canberra Central

The food smells good so I’m rating it five stars, but I must mention that the place is sketchy during late nights when the shop is closed.

I was watching the area with a person I was dating, and we both saw a truck pass by and dump something inside a bin right next to the shop, almost as if they did something wrong and were disposing of evidence.

We investigated the bin together after the truck left, and noticed a bunch of cords along with liquid all over the bin, which my partner described as like acid.

My partner believes that cannibalism might be happening in the area, because they met a lady in an elevator months ago who mentioned cannibalism out of nowhere, and she hasn’t been seen since.

So… there might be a chance that the “chicken” in the shop isn’t chicken at all, and perhaps the cords and acidic liquid were being used to conceal the smell of human body parts, but we didn’t rummage thoroughly to check.

It definitely smells like chicken though. I don’t know what cooked human meat smells like, but eat there at...

I rediscovered the takeaway shop last week that a family member drove to the Charcoal Rooster 🐓, I was there in the 60s and 70s.

Walked inside the takeaway, and I can smell the wonderful charcoal chicken 🐔 cooking.

The staff and owner are so helpful, and I will take my order.

Today, I have little of everything ❤️, potatoes, scallops, spring rolls 😋,dim sim meat, and sausage.

Last week, I had, can't emphasize how good the fish and chips are so delicious 😋, and later in the week, we had a steak 🥪 sandwich with salad, so perfectly cooked and delicious.

Come and see your shelf. You will love ❤️ the Charcoal Rooster 🐓.

Still the best Potato Cakes in Canberra. - handmade, homemade, potato, delicious!

In October 2024, in search of the best Potato Cakes south of the lake, I performed a Potato Cake pilgrimage to all take away shops south side Canberra.

After trying dozens of locations, 2 were found that stood above the rest, the Fisher shops take away, and Little Theo's in Kambah.

So it was only fair to see if Little Theo's and Fisher Take Away were good enough to topple Charcoal Rooster from the throne for the best in town!.... But no. Upon my visit today I can confirm that the Potato Cakes at Charcoal Rooster in Braddon are still the best Potato Cakes...
