'Narrabundah ', is a word from the Indigenous Ngunnawal language meaning 'Bird of Prey '. Celebrated in the sculpture in the park opposed the Narrabundah shops.
After the Australia Capital Territory (A.C.T) was established in 1 January 1911, all the land areas were renamed. Narrabundah was named on 20 September 1928. Narrabundah was the last of the 'inner south ' suburbs to be developed, commencing in 1947, after being delayed by the World War 2. Upper Narrabundah know for its small population of urban Peafowl (peacocks) with their colourful feathers. There is a photo of the colourful Peafowl (Peacocks), thank you People in Narrabundah for the photo.

Read moreI was never really a bread person or appreciated good bread, until I tried Danny’s German Artisan Sourdough (seriously the best sourdough I have ever had). It is the perfect texture and isn’t rock hard or overly dry like many sourdoughs nowadays. It toasts beautifully and pairs so well with some butter or marinated goats cheese in olive oil, or paired with a tasty soup. No wonder why it is always sold out first at my local IGA!
One time after struggling for some time to nab a loaf at the IGA, I made the trek to Danny’s Bakery in Narrabundah myself and Danny had kindly reserved a loaf just for me! He also generously gave me an extra loaf for free to take home and stock up on.
Danny’s Bakery is such a beloved little Canberra gem and it shows! Thank you for serving up affordable and quality sourdough bread from your intergenerational secret...
Read moreI went to this bakery expecting good things. The reviews were pretty good... the place is dirty and run down. I thinks it's past its prime. The pie i had was cold. The staff looked like they didn't want to be there, one was vaping out the front. So hopefully things are better in the future and this review becomes redundant but as of Easter 2025 I wouldn't recommend this bakery for a meat pie or a cup coffee, maybe try the bread it could be a different story.
Edit 22-4-2025 7pm I'm not sure what the shop owner is on about saying I was there an hour ago... I was there Saturday morning (not a public holiday) sorry your staff had to work. They weren't the concern. Cleanliness and food safety were my concerns. I hope this helps other readers of my review. Please read owner's...
