Playing Fields Cafe in Civic buzzes with life and activity, a spot where breakfast comes in generous portions and the decor reflects the vibrant ambiance. While the cafe may feel busy at times, it's a place that offers a unique and lively experience.

The food is a highlight at Playing Fields Cafe. My fresh and tasty granola was well-presented, and my colleague's omelette, brimming with listed ingredients, was a delight. Serving sizes are more than satisfying, ensuring you start the day with a hearty meal.

Service is friendly and attentive, with staff doing their best in a bustling environment. Although there might be some delays in table clearing, it doesn't take away from the overall warmth of the service.

Pricing is reasonable, with a special mention for the sizable smoothies and juices that offer great value.

While Playing Fields Cafe might not be everyone's go-to spot for a calm breakfast, its energy, quality food, and convenient location make it a place worth considering. If you're in the mood for a lively morning with friends or colleagues and crave substantial servings, this could be a fun option to explore.

Overall, Playing Fields Cafe earns a rating of 6/10. It's a unique place that brings something different to the Civic breakfast scene, suitable for those who appreciate a bustling atmosphere and...

Highly recommended if you are in the neighborhood. Had the french toast here with a friend, food was very good, tasty and presentable in a nice plate, they also have seats outside in the shade, which is very nice with some breeze in summer.

On top of the normal good things of a restaurant, I was also very grateful for their help and kindness. I was visiting Canberr and the storage service I booked with the newsagency next door was closed without notifying the app, and the lady at the cafe was super kind and let me keep my luggage there for a few hours while I headed to the War Memorial. Such a nice lady and restaurant. Will come back to the cafe next time...

Rachel is a walking , talking sunshine. She always greets us with the biggest smile and makes our morning.

When I visited today, she asked if I wanted my usual. I told her not today, as yesterday’s order didn’t quite hit the mark; the food felt a bit undercooked. I chose something different, and while I was waiting, she came over with genuine concern and said she was sorry I felt that way, and insisted I could pick any item on the house. She even made my chicken and avo sandwich extra delicious today!!!

Shout out to Rachel

Not a gourmet location but super convenient and helpful staff and not expensive. The big plus here is the good coffee that is well executed. Had a delicious double espresso from ONA Ethiopian washed process single origin beans. There was a mistake on a dirty almond chai latte but they just immediately made another one no questions asked! Only giving 4 stars because the omelette game could be stepped up but fix that and I’d give 5. The big breakfast was a hit with my lil guy who smashed it. Gluten free options available and almond milk for those who are evading allergy issues.

Brought a colleague here to have some breakfast. Unfortunately it seemed that I got the cafe on a bad day as there was not enough staff at the front of house. With only 2 people working the counter and barista, it was always going to be hard. Thankfully the gentleman who served me explained the situation and told me that he would do his best to deliver our drinks and food. I was not disappointed by this at all and they always have a good staff presence, it just seemed that I got them on their bad day. Highly recommended and it's a nice place.
