Today I have had a good walk around the Canberra Centre.

WOW, WHAT A BIG PLACE IS THE CENTRE NOW.

Right now they're refurbishing making more larger and more shop's. At Coles supermarket in front of the entrance is staircase going down to the car park, this is new.

When I come for the first time over 50 years ago

Shopping Centre started in 1961 they build the centre about two and half years. When was finished become the first building in Australia to contain three floors and be fully enclosed, and air-conditioned Shopping Centre. It had 161 stores, when they opened in 1960s.

6 March 1963 the Shopping Centre opened by Prime Minister Robert Menzies (1894-1978), Prime Minister from 1939-1941, again from 1949-1966), known as the Monaro Mall. Opened with, David Jones, Marcus Clark and Co. (Later Walton and Grace Brothers now Mayer), and Coles New World Supermarket, now closed, with McEwans Hardware also closed, 58 speciality shop's and the rest were mixed retailers like Takeaways food's many more.

It underwent a $220 million redevelopment and expected and rebounded as Canberra Centre, officially opened by Rosemary Follet (1948-), Chief Minister of the Australian Capital Territory, serving in 1989 again between 1991 and 1995, first woman to become head of government in an Australian State or Territory), In 1989.

From 2013 to 2020 Canberra Centre had refurbishment most of the floors levels and opened new retailers, now still refurbishing for more wonderful retailers. 😀

The Canberra Centre stands as one of the capital's premier shopping destinations, offering a comprehensive retail experience in the heart of the city.

What immediately stands out about this shopping complex is its excellent parking facilities. The multi-level car park provides ample spaces, even during peak shopping hours, with clear signage and logical layout that makes finding a spot relatively stress-free. The center offers reasonable parking rates with validation options available when shopping at certain retailers.

Security is another notable strength of the Canberra Centre. The vigilant security personnel, strategically placed CCTV cameras, and well-lit common areas create a safe environment for all visitors. Families with children can shop with peace of mind, and even during evening hours, the atmosphere remains secure and welcoming.

Beyond these practical aspects, the centre boasts an impressive selection of stores ranging from high-end fashion boutiques to everyday essentials. The food court and dining options cater to diverse tastes, while the modern, clean facilities enhance the overall shopping experience.

Whether you're looking for a quick shopping trip or a full day out, the Canberra Centre delivers convenience, safety, and variety in one...
