Dined in October 2023, only just starting a new hobby of reviewing my eats recently.
Restaurants scenes are nowadays somewhat similar everywhere, SUCH is a hot rising star i can say even in whole aus.
They are special, unique, vibrant, colourful, queer, artsy, well-seasoned and muti-cultured. If you have dined with them, you will just get that ah they are just some simple genuine ppl that enjoy cooking that came from different backgrounds and showcasing beautiful dishes and flavours from all over the word using top tier Australian produce.” At least i felt that.
Snacks we got blooming eschallot, why eshays? Because it doesn’t get soggy like a big onion do, it stays crispy even if you are into a great time couple bevs down, it turns room temperature, shes still crisp! Love how they put chefs name on the menu for nomination of their creation, (one of many reason i fell in love with Mal, Dash and Ross) Moz stuffed bread with a side of salami and guindilla emm hello?? Genius and of effing course, i got a third even though we got 2 on the table. Occy skewers, so smoky so beautiful, i could have actually had a second but my friend wouldn’t let me because i need to try as much items as i could☹️ Cauliflower and gnudi is for the table, im just not the biggest fan of cauliflower 😭 i wish i were tho!! School prawns in 666 spice, 666 in China means ‘sickening fantastic’, sure matches that dangerously crispy little prawns, shes a beaut, pls stay on the menu. OXTAIL PIEROGI was the star main for me, shes got texture, flavour and colour, you will find yourself keep going back at it couldn’t stop!!!! Prawn omelette, oh yeah, yep yep yep, get it. So hearty and flavourful, softens up your stomach if you had been drinking with your friends, great size to share. I wont review the duck due to allergy reasons (my table had them I didn’t ) Steak was actually not the star of the show, but it is only because personal reason that i tend to try steak every time i try a new place, and i have not got one yet, that i can actually remember the taste (also reviewing 3 months after) because how good it was, and to be fair, i got filled up on cheese (bread). Overall, i recommend you go SUCH to celebrate special days with a bunch of ppl, a weekend brunch day-drinking sesh, or a family casual dinner. You will just have to try Mal and the teams cooking, Dash and Ross’ hospitality, honestly, once you are with them, you dont...
Read moreWhat a great spot! Great food, atmosphere, and staff.
Went with my partner for a birthday dinner and would highly recommend.
Great drinks and wine list and I hands down recommend trying the non-alcoholics as the sodas and drinks are super tasty. The Such and Such Shandy with Heaps Normal was so yum.
For starters, you can’t miss out on the snacks. The flat bread with garlic toum was a real winner, school prawns and zucchini flowers super crunchy, and beef skewers with sambal, enoki, and a sesame leaf to tuck it all in packed a flavorful punch.
Getting onto the mains, the duck with quince and fish sauce caramel was heavenly (would live in that sauce). Duck cooked perfectly.
The gnudi (almost like a single giant gnocchi) was so comforting. Covered in a good dose of cheese, cauliflower bits, currents and sage, I could’ve eaten about 50 of these. The gnudi itself was crispy on the outside and cheesy gooey on the inside.
Lastly, we got the Mandarin three ways for dessert which was a great way to finish off the meal. Crisp, light, equal amounts of sweet, sour and bitter.
All in all, we had a great experience, perfect table, really attentive service and an all around fun time. Such and Such is easily approachable, not annoyingly pretentious and serving up...
Read moreHad the 10 course menue, courses and details were not listed on the menue, the waiter tried to explain- would be better to see on the menue what is included. Chairs super uncomfortable. And not good value for s$110. First 2 courses were good tuna tartare and octopus with potatoes ( 2 tiny pieces of octopus) would rate it 3.5, bread was a standout 5, Tomorrow chicken were 2 chicken dumplings would rate it 1. Skirt stake- tough , grizzle i had 1 slice that was edible 2 which I could not eat, give it 2 because of a tasty mushroom dip , salad, tiny serve with nothing sauce ( i think they charge individually $15 give it 1, desert: truffle- pathetic 2 bowls to share with 4 people tasteless, form creme- give it 0. Passion fruit desert 4 that was nice. Overall underwhelming place. Lots of staff standing around , i think about 8, the service was ok, except explanation of menue. If you go order individual dishes...by the way the tuff skirtsteak was $110- not worth it. None of the dishes were something special or new- except the tuna tartare which was a nice mixture of chips and well seasoned tuna pieces. Overall , it was overpriced and underwhelming. The other 2 diners enjoyed it more, but also hated the...
