I found previous reviews misleading. Ate here whilst staying at Rydges a few evenings. It is a lovely, spacious and relaxing venue conveniently close to everything. The food is superb; I even braved the antipasto platter after some sensational meals (including BBQ pork, soft shell crab, chicken wings…) as I usually find these disappointing. Not at The George Bar & Grill - this platter was a highlight with fresh, delicious and melt in your mouth ingredients. Soooo happy and could even enjoy one of the delectable desserts to top it off. In addition, the staff at this venue are fantastic!!! Always smiling and ready to make your experience memorable regardless of the calibre of customer. Helpful with welcome suggestions for drinks and sundry. I really commend their professionalism especially when there seemed to be an influx of families with their youngsters (whilst ongoing Xmas functions in the restaurant) variably presented (wet or dry, clothed or otherwise with a downstairs pool in the hotel) all to be “fed and watered” in a short period of time. Well done to the excellent team in the bar and commendations to the kitchen for quality and efficiency!! I don’t know how you do it!!! I would recommend anyone to come and eat at The George or have a tipple or two after work. A wonderful gem in the heart of Canberra.

We had dinner here with our family in June. We had visited this restaurant a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it then. We were looking forward to coming back, but unfortunately, we were disappointed this time. The food was not tasty, the half chicken was the size of a spatchcock, and the pizza was served in a cardboard box. The presentation of the dishes also left much to be desired. I do not recommend this restaurant and will not be dining here again. There are many much more interesting places to eat nearby.

Food was well prepared and tasteful, if slightly overpriced. There was a wait despite what appeared to be relatively few people. Kids menu was present but not wide range, and our specific meal was prepared slightly incorrectly. A fine in hotel restaurant, but there are certainly better options roaming the nearby suburbs.

Very disappointing dinner at the Rydges Bar and Grill. We were planning on coming to dinner on a Monday night, so looked through the special Sunday & Monday night dinner menu provided on the website. Unfortunately upon arriving we realised the menu in the restaurant is entirely different to the one advertised online. They have no options for a side of vegetable, no large salad on the main menu, and completely different appetisers. We would not have planned to eat here if we knew this was the menu, honestly very poor for what is supposed to be a high quality and...

Food order steak $58 plus peppercorn sauce $5. Steak not cooked great. Crispy edges and burnt taste. Sauce is more like peppercorn soup, very watery. Served only with mash potatoes, which are to paste like. Really disappointing fit a $63 main. Service is slow to non existent despite having very limited number of customers. Once you finally get service at least they are polite and welcoming. Desert I had pavlova, which was underwhelming. Better off making your own at home. Ate there because I had no other option with broken bones. Would not stay in...
