My recent dinner experience at Louis Dining was absolutely exceptional from start to finish.
We had the pleasure of dining at Louis for my partner's birthday, and it turned out to be the perfect choice. The warm and welcoming atmosphere began from the moment we stepped in. The ambiance was top-notch, with the perfect lighting and well-sized tables creating a cozy and inviting environment. Both the bar and dining areas exuded a comfortable charm.
The highlight, undoubtedly, was the food. Every dish we tried was outstanding, but the Potato & Leek Pithivier and the Lamb Rump were truly remarkable. Surprisingly, they paired together in a delightful harmony that elevated the dining experience. Kudos to the chef for crafting such a delightful culinary journey.
The staff's hospitality was nothing short of remarkable. Their friendliness and warmth set the tone for the entire evening. They were more than happy to provide recommendations, and their genuine care was evident throughout. What stood out was the small yet meaningful gestures - even the chefs took a moment to bid us farewell as we left.
Speaking of service, it was flawless. A solid 10 out of 10. The only hiccup, mentioning dishes with shellfish to my partner despite her allergy, was quickly rectified, highlighting their attentiveness.
"Amazing" perfectly encapsulates our experience. The chef's dedication and culinary prowess were undeniable, and the wait staff's attentiveness was commendable.
As we celebrated my partner's birthday, the Louis team added to the joy of the occasion. From the warm welcome to the cocktails at the bar (their Old-Fashioned was a personal favorite), and finally to the flawlessly timed delivery of each course in the dining area, the evening flowed seamlessly. We never felt rushed, allowing us to savor every moment.

Chef Ben Willis and his culinary team showcased their expertise through a remarkable menu that left me wanting more. The wine list at Louis is truly exceptional, featuring a carefully curated selection that perfectly complements the exquisite dishes with both local, broader Australian and European options. The lamb dish and rump steak at Louis is an absolute triumph. Cooked to perfection, the tender meat melted in our mouths, bursting with incredible flavors that were both comforting and sophisticated. It was evident that the kitchen pays meticulous attention to detail, as every bite of the lamb was a testament to his culinary prowess.
Another standout dish was the spanner crab cannelloni. This unique creation was a harmonious blend of delicate flavors. The cannelloni pasta was perfectly cooked, encasing a rich filling of fresh spanner crab that was beautifully complemented by the mussels. The combination of textures and flavors in this dish was truly exceptional, leaving me wanting to savor each bite.

Read moreWe were looking forward to going back after last year and what a disappointment.
The service and the food were really poor. Took forever for a waiter to acknowledge us once we were seated. We were ready to order and they then remembered to tell us about the specials.
The food was not nice at all.
We had the fried brie and it was cold. It had clearly been sitting in the fridge for too long and the center was hard so had not melted at all during the baking process.
My partner had the poulet rôti, and while well cooked, it wasn't seasoned at all and was therefore tasteless. The cream corn was non existent and consisted of a couple of corn and a lot of oil.
I had the mushroom tart and I can't begin to describe my disappointment. It consisted of a fried brik pastry piece chucked on top of two brown mushrooms which had clearly been overcooked and were dry. The celeriac was also tasteless. No seasoning, no sauce. It was just comically bad.
We ordered a side of Paris mash and again, oily and tasteless. Thankful for it as it made my mushroom (deconstructed) tart almost edible.
We had the chocolate.kisse for dessert. It was okay but the Chantilly cream was Chantilly at all. It was cream. Too heavy and not achieving the light delicious feel it would have given the moisse.
Overall, big disappointment. It hasn't been the same since it changed from Buvette to Louis, and we won't be coming back anytime soon sadly.
