What a shocker. Where do I start? We arrived for a birthday dinner for 10 adults and five children, but there was no record of our booking, so we had to sit outside. In Canberra, in June, at night. OK, not a good start. Order some drinks , but what the hell, almost nothing in the white wine range, or the red wine range, no spirits at all. Oh well, you get that sometimes, so we ordered what we could. Menu looked good, so we went to order. Oh, "the schnitzel machine is broken so you can't have those", so some of us had to order something else. When the orders arrived, on individual plates we assumed each person's order was their own order. Not so. We realised we were missing some side orders of various fries. Their explanation was that they might be on different plates. So, not each plate of food belonged to the person who received it. Oops, "sorry about any inconvenience", as some of the food was already consumed. We order another red wine. "It might take a while we will bring it out." We thought they might have to find a ladder to get to one bottle of red high up on the wall which was the only one we could see. Wine arrives, but it is WHITE wine. Really? What the hell. I can accept that sometimes we all get something wrong, but tonight was just beyond a joke. We won't...
Read moreFor a store that does a huge amount of its trade as takeaway orders and app orders, I was exceptionally disappointed this evening when as I arrived to collect my order at the 6.39pm time and had to wait for my order to be prepared (not the issue) I was asked to wait outside…..in the cold. No regard for whether I was well enough to wait outside or not, what was important was to “keep the till clear”. I was not blocking the till and had let anyone who came in know (if I needed to, most worked it out) I was not waiting in line to order. When I politely declined to wait outside I honestly felt like his next step was to grab me by the arm and force me outside. Now I doubt he would have but he was not accepting no thanks and I certainly was not going to wait outside. The 2 x food delivery service drivers collecting food were not asked to leave when they were standing there. The store needs to work out a better way to accomodate their CUSTOMERS in a caring and considerate manner, especially in Canberra winter weather!!. NOTE: had my food been ready by the time the app said it was then I wouldn’t have needed to wait. I also did not wait outside...
Read moreI came into the wooden Grilled store on Thursday to get some takeaway dinner and ordered the Summer Sunset Burger and Regular sweet Potato chips from the counter. When my order was ready, my chips were wrong, I ordered the regular sweet potato chips and got the regular normal chips...the non-sweet potato ones.
I pointed the error out to the staff and they checked the order, which had been taken as regular potato chips. Given the loudness of the music in the store, I do not blame anyone for the mix-up and the staff agreed to replace the chips. I did not mind waiting while they did, and understood that this was a simple mistake. I have worked in the hospitality industry for over 15yrs so I know that these things happen.
But when the sweet potato chips came they were the wrong size as I was given a small size instead of a regular size. I did not wish to be that customer who always complains, despite the fact that the staff had gotten the order wrong twice. So I took the small chips and left.
I am very disappointed as have always enjoyed the service and food provided. However this time I was let down and left me feeling frustrated...
