The food is rated at 4 stars, but the service is a 1 star or less. We will come here for a treat for the food, but don’t expect anything like “service” here. We are constantly baffled and disappointed with the lack of service at the Phillip branch, with service staff so lacking in enthusiasm. We arrived wanting to eat in and not a single table was clean or set. Sitting down for some time before a young girl cleared the table, we had to ask for water and glasses and had to fetch our own cutlery and serviettes. We noticed that other tables that were busy were left dirty until all had vacated, then a couple of staff came to clear them all at once, instead of clearing each table as quickly as it’s vacated. We can’t understand - are the staff lazy, underpaid, mistreated or ‘quiet-quitting’? Whatever it is, it’s apparent they don’t care about customer service or the experience they give clientele. Oh well, at least the food is tasty and consistently high quality. What a shame the same can’t be said about the service. Also, they messed up my order - asked for two naan breads, only received one. When I asked for the extra one I had to go to the counter to pay for it, really? Your mistake and you couldn’t give a comp? Had to pack my own “doggy bag” too. The service is so bad here we’ve been joking about it for a few years now; if we come across any poor service anywhere else we say “they must have trained at Bharat...

We are regular customers of Bharat International at Woden. The food used to be very delicious but occasionally the taste was just okay. It used to be eatable.

On 28th July, we ordered samosa chaat, papri chaat, butter chicken, plain naan & garlic naan. Both chaat were just okay, one couldn’t see the difference in papri and samosa chaat. But the butter chicken was just worst. It seemed “off” when it arrived on our table. But we ignored that and dipped the naan in the gravy of butter chicken, it was too sour.

We thought as we had just finished our chaat, it could have cause the change in taste. So, we waited for few minutes before trying it again but no change in the taste. TOO MUCH SOUR.

So, we complained about this and the lady checked with her chef and we got the answer that her chef didn’t find any wrong with the dish.😐

But she asked if we want to have the same dish or want to any other dish. And we changed the item.

This 1star is just for the food. But this shop is nice and we won’t stop...

I visited Bharat International after a long time and was surprised to see both quality and service have gone down. To begin with, as we entered the shop, we noticed the floor was extremely slippery presumably because of the fried food that is cooked in the shop and no one to clean the floor. My elderly friend, who accompanied me with a stick, had difficulty walking on the slippery floor and stick almost slipped. I ordered Kadhi with rice (traditional Indian dish) and very crispy tandoori roti. The kadhi was delicious, but roti was raw in different sections (picture attached). I asked for them to make fresh roti, which they did.

After eating, we walked around the shop, and the first thing we noticed was that shells were disorganised and produce shoved it and hard to pick from the shelf.

Overall, the experience was not pleasant. Seeing there is now so much competition for Indian dining and shopping, it will be a pity for the one of the first Indian...
