San Churro Woden — Restaurant in District of Woden Valley

An extremely disappointing visit. The manager (we checked with staff that this was in fact the manager) had a dry, chesty cough and continued to work, which is completely inexcusable, particularly when we are in the middle of a pandemic. I observed him failing to properly cover his cough, oftentimes coughing near or on food, coughing on his staff, not once washing his hands or wearing gloves (which all other staff were doing competently) and consistently retreating to the back of house area to cough consistently which raised not only my eyes, but all other patrons of the restaurant (it was extremely loud for customers to hear). Furthermore, I witnessed him at many times throughout my stay to be rude to his younger, female staff members, whom were all working at a fast pace and doing their jobs appropriately. I find it absolutely wrong that someone who is clearly unwell, with a dry, chesty cough and has watery eyes, is handling food, working in the presence of others, unable to abide by simple rules (e.g. stay home if you're unwell, wash your hands), and is the manager of this establishment. excuse this essay, but it must be said. this restaurant is EXTREMELY unprofessional. the two workers that happened to be working approached a customer for seemingly no reason and begun to argue with them. i then overheard them talking inappropriately about the argument, giving the customer a fake name so that they were untraceable to the argument. i do not understand why the management at this restaurant does not take action to combat this monstrosity. there should be name badges worn by all workers. i work in customer service and this is NOT how they should be treating customers. do not come to this place unless you want to be treated badly. while I can sympathise that there is only two people working and therefore the food won’t be made quick - we waited twenty minutes for two hot chocolates as I watched the workers chat between themselves doing absolutely nothing. not to mention they were being extremely unhygienic with their hands - chewing on finger nails and touching hair. this is...

The good for the night - Chai was good and strawberries were fresh.

The rest of it - staff were unenthused and very disorganised. While the store was busy, as it generally is of a Saturday, 1 staff member on churros making seemed the only staff member actively working. Others seemed to be unsure what their role was... so a lot of standing around and trying to figure out what to do next.

Came in and the 5 odd free tables inside were all covered with old plates/cups. We sat down, and then had to clear our and clean it ourselves (luckily spray was left on the bench in easy reach).

In the 1.5hrs we were in the resturant minimal tables were cleared by staff- luckily customers were actively moving plates/cups themselves from 1 table to another...other would be customers would come to the door, unable to find a seat that was clean and then leave.

It's such a shame to see the store as disorganised and dirty as it was. Hope to see it in better condition next time we go...
