â What an amazing way to start our holidays!â
I could not recommend this gorgeous establishment enough!
With its amazing indoor play centre,to the serene outdoor/ alfresco area, it was definitely the right choice for us. The delicious meals were prompt with generous portion sizing, not one of us left hungry.
My favourite part of our dining experience however was that of a particular member of the bar staff named Catch! Upon our approach to order meals and beverages- she was busy in attendance with another patron, but politely told us that she will be with us in a moment when passing by the till, acknowledging our presence straight away.
Not long after we had her full attention, greeted with an ear to ear grin and amazing attitude that was infectious, ready to take our order, I dislike ordering at the table as I believe it takes away from the diners overall experience.
Ordering the Dunsy Burger and a glass of wine for myself, but Unfortunately the wine I had selected was not in stock but no problem, Catch recommended the Skuttlebut SBS,and what an amazing drop!
This young lady went above and beyond to ensure our service was brilliant and our needs were met to the best of her ability with a can-do attitude!
As a member of the Hospitality industry myself I have high expectations when it comes to my dining experiences and this girl did not disappoint, not in the LEAST. Itâs refreshing to see restaurant staff whom still have fantastic customer service skills, for I have noticed this particular art is becoming a rare commodity sadly.
Great work, and THANK YOU Catch, we shall...

My sister and I spent five hours at this âfamily-friendlyâ pub on a rainy afternoon, thinking it would be a good place to keep her two kids dry and entertained. We each had five drinks over five hours. We sat quietly, kept to ourselves and were completely unproblematic.
Her eldest brought along a little trike that other kids ended up sharing and playing with in the playground area. We ordered a kids meal. We were cleaning up bits of food the baby threw from the high chair. At one point a pregnant woman even asked me where the baby change room was.. because we looked that composed and calm.
But when i went to order our final drink of the night, we were suddenly cut off. No warning. Just vague âconcerns about the childrenâ and an assumption about how we were getting home. They assumed i was going to put two kids in a car and drive off drunk... For the record: we were walking back to our accommodation. Five minutes away.
No one approached us at the table. No one checked in.
Meanwhile, a man seated nearby was loudly yelling about his wifeâs pussy (yes, out loud) and wasnât cut off or asked to leave. Apparently two women calmly drinking with children is a concern but a man yelling sexual comments in a âfamilyâ pub? No problem!
I emailed the venue afterward and got a generic apology, followed by silence. No ownership. No explanation. No resolution.
As people who love a local tav, would highly suggest skipping this one and giving Occys...
Read moreThere's nothing good to be said about this venue, so here's my list of grievances instead:
Staff that don't even greet you and are simply rude - seems they truly don't care ZERO atmosphere and so brightly lit it's blinding .... dim the lights men's toilets that stink like they haven't been cleaned in months, including NO hand soap or sanitizer (disgusting lack of hygiene control), a hand basin with pipes broken so water poured out over my feet, and NO hand towel or dryer. It's been like this since I called in over 4 weeks ago. steak in steak sandwich pounded to about 3mm thick, with one slice of bread super thick, the other paper thin, and both barely toasted kitchen closed at 8pm (totally inappropriate for a tourist town) and they refused to serve guests from before 8. At least 30 people worked in and were told "No" to food. Must be a local party chefs are keen to get to. multiple tables were some guests waited for food until others had almost finished, plus one table a guest told food forgotten, and chefs didn't even consider helping out. Gas stove, pan, add some ingredients and help out.
This is what happens when the big corporations buy venues and run them for profit, rather can having the slightest concern for service quality. The Australian hospitality industry is the laughing stock of the world and Charter Hall Group should be ashamed - but they won't be, because they don't care in the slightest and let staff take the heat.
What an...
