DO NOT STAY AT THIS ACCOMMODATION.
I have stayed in many types of accommodation before and have never had to write a negative review, and so it is shame I have to write this. I was hesitant to book here after all of the negative reviews I’d read and it’s a shame I didn’t pay attention to them. Firstly, the accommodation is extremely dated and overpriced for what it is. It had not been thoroughly cleaned, and was dusty. There were very few cooking utensils and what they did have, was old and used. The accom itself was extremely small, and basic.
Secondly, and most importantly, we had to cancel a night stay here as we had an emergency that we needed to travel back to Perth for. I called the emergency line and was assured by management I would not be charged on compassionate grounds if I picked up my belongings by 12pm, so we did just that.
The next day I found the hotel had charged me $250. I called to question this due to the promise made to me on the phone by the owner. The lady on the phone told me that they will not be refunding me the money as this was never discussed and she did not know anything about it, which was a lie. She was extremely rude to me, and then told me “well you did leave the place a mess and items were left in the fridge”. I was shocked that this had even been brought up never mind being a reason for them to charge us. We had clearly checked out, as we had left the key and picked up our belongings. I told her the bin was not big enough for the empty boxes, and there were a few items in the fridge, as we had to leave in a rush.
The hotel then sent me an email with a record from the cleaners that said due to food in the fridge, we had “not checked out” and the “Guest is expected to return to collect remaining food?”. We were not aware that we needed to return to collect remaining food for us to have ‘checked out’, we were never even contacted about this, and they had our contact details. It also said they had “checked the apartment at 5pm”, this shows they did not even bother to check if we had checked out at 12pm as discussed and promised by the owner. They did not even call us to tell us they were charging us. It is a shame that these days somebody’s word does not mean anything.
These people are dishonest, disrespectful and have stolen money from our account for a service we did not receive, and without telling us. We are now having to work with our bank to get our money back. I would seriously consider other accom before...
Read moreIts disappointing after nearly 20 plus years of staying at Bay Village the recent stay resulted in us shortening our visit, we elected to arrive on Saturday and leave on Monday so that the other couple we were travelling with could enjoy some space and privacy. When we booked we hadn’t stayed in the 2+2 apartments designed around 2 couples, we have stayed in just about every other type of accommodation and had the pictures and description showed that it was in fact two separate suites one with kitchen and one a suite type accommodation with a common foyer more so, we wouldn’t of booked and alternatively would’ve booked either a two bedroom villa type or the apartment upstairs over reception as we had previously when we travelled with other couples.
The suites are similar to those on the eastern side with a common foyer, and to be blunt that’s all the advertised apartments are as poorly as it was wrongly portrayed they are two separate suites, yes you advise that but you don’t advise the foyer is completely separate to the two rooms and the two rooms are completely separated. The suite with a kitchen was very cramped for 4 adults , you can’t slide the door to the king size shut as the A/C is in the room removing all privacy, you can’t sit in the foyer as it has no A/C and no TV and no ability to put a coffee table between the lounge suites, the actual lounge suite in the king size suite is only a two seater and the queen suite was awkward and clunky in that you had a microwave jammed in, jug and toaster on top, a power board exposed that you had to move out of the way every time you opened the drawers and if you were making a meal where do you propose people consume the meal?
When we have stayed next to the apartments in the queen bed suites for likes of Leeuwin Concert, etc they are ideal, 4 suites and a common foyer, concealed washing machine, but not for two travelling couples. As a positive your staff were as usual very nice ,clean linen, tidy and clean apartments, we are not ones that go online and complain nor are we trying to get a reduction, but the advertised Apartment 4.5 -2 bedroom, 2 bathroom for $2500 for a four night stay was well over priced, wrongly portrayed as ideal for 2 couples and disappointing, we will be back to stay but unlikely we would recommend as suitable for 2 couples, and to not get a reply to our email was not the...
Read moreCant beat the location, right in the middle of town and a short walk to the beach, albeit not a great beach for swimming, but nice for a morning walk under the trees and along the beach path. I was sharing a two bedroom chalet with a friend and two teenage boys. Space was fine but having the shower/toilet/laundry all in one room did make it a bit awkward if you are not with your own family as there was no privacy. We were only given one towel each, and one hand towel for 4 people and 1 bathmat, and one toilet roll - not really suitable, especially when you ask for me the staff made it seem like an inconvenience. For a weeks stay we had no room service, no change of sheets or new towels. At the very least it would have been nice to have some fresh towels dropped off. We were Chalet #15, don't book this one if you have young kids or like a sleep in! It's pretty noisy, backs onto Dunn Bay road so noise of cars in peak season starting 5am!. Also this is right next door to the Pourhouse pub which has an outdoor beer garden and balcony, so noise from there at night, and then 7am music blaring when it opens for coffee. The pool was out of action, whilst we were told about this prior to staying, to be honest the pool area was pretty grim so unlikely we would have used it anyway. Only one air conditioner in the unit in the main living area means the rooms can be pretty warm in the height of summer and due to road and pub noise opening windows not an option. No Netflix or Smart TV in the unit, though I believe other units might have this option Kitchen was reasonably well equipped albeit small BBQ in the courtyard at the back but not really a decent seating area if you were a family wanting to eat outside
For the price paid I would expect more amenities and more...
