Fig Cafe & Bar Eden — Restaurant in Eden

This place is a rip!!! They want $1.50 for an extra shot in a coffee. That takes a small flat white from $4.50 up to $6!!! This is well beyond the already high rate of inflation - of which no body's salaries are matching - except it seems at this place. What would the markup on this be if the cost of one shot of coffee is around 20c? I can't say if the coffee is worth that because I'm not paying that much for it, in my opinion it's overpriced. I can afford coffe and I can recommend Food co further up the road that serves Superior Campos coffee and Marco's coffee cart down at the wharf information centre - both serve tasty coffee, have great service and are not so overpriced. And for the record, no scene was made at this place I calmly questioned the extra fee and then stated that I'm not paying that much for a coffee and walked out. If the staff are not capable to deal with that I suggest the owner take some of their precious money and pay more of it to better staff. I truely wonder how these kinds of places stay in business. Attacking a fair and honest review. This is google maps, not paid advertising. We say it straight, even if it's hard for the reviewed place to take any kind of critiscm. No need to tell me to not come back, I clearly didn't want buy the over priced coffee the first time around. It's like this place is even very fancy. Time to up your game not...

Thinking of coming here for a nice lunch? Fig-get it. When we arrived, we were the only people there. Perhaps this was a sign. As I began to order, I was informed they were out of the gin cured salmon. No matter, we'll just leave that one. And according to the chef "it's too early for alcohol anyways." Right. As I went on to try and order our mains, I was told that they were out of the chicken burger (a menu mainstay you would think) and the halloumi burger. This left us with very little else to choose from. We ended up getting the fish and chips. The fish was extremely dry and quite clearly old. The curiously named 'Reuben' was grossly overpriced for what was essentially a ham and mustard sandwich. Finally, we were served the halloumi burger. Yes, the same halloumi burger that, just 5 minutes ago, we were told that they were out of. All of the dishes were bland, overpriced and served without even the semblance of a smile....

Visit 2 - Burrito pre-made was ice cold in the middle. Big breakfast was cold, coffee cold. Coffee flavour was great. Visit 1 - chicken slider YUMMO, Caesar salad with grilled chicken. Chicken fridge cold, should be cooked to order. Rude server on visit 1. Won’t be back, which a shame, as this place has so much potential to be great with a few tweaks. Reply to owner, thank you for replying. I owned a catering company and understand about preparation. Can I suggest you use a thermometer to test the temperature of your burrito’s, the coffee was so cold we could scull it straight down. This is meant as constructive feedback, I would love Eden to have somewhere great to eat. It’s a shame that for a decent feed people have have to travel to Pambula or Merimbula, as I said this place could be great with a few tweaks. I really do wish you well, your cafe has a lovely atmosphere....
