Very sad to see this establishment enables and support violence against women!

I’d like to make it very clear that this post is not at all the venue staff there is definitely some great staff who are just following managements orders but it’s disappointing to see that as even as a victim you are penalised and not allowed to return. Whilst visiting the great southern inn, I was approached by a staff member who wasn’t working at the time he was quite intoxicated and aggressive, upset about a personal matter her confronted me on numerous occasions, I removed myself from his presence I even shielded myself behind other patrons he was asked to leave and refused, I did not retaliate I was scared for my safety as this staff member is known to be violent especially when drinking. I waited for him to leave and had friends collect me and made sure I got home safely the staff thanked me on the night and even after but on returning to the hotel to met with friends I was informed that I was barred and no longer allowed on the premises, even though I never engaged and was threatened and harassed by this staff member. He still has a job within the company which I find appalling as he has threatened other patrons with physical violence.

Thank you to the staff on the night that kept me safe and done a great job and to the management that have made an unfair decision even after watching the cctv footage of your male staff harassing and intimidating a woman on her own without even speaking to me or reaching out to me shame on you, with a national crisis of domestic and social violence against women going on in this country this is a poor poor effort on...

Went for dinner at the Great Southern Inn based on the mostly positive Google reviews for this venue. We had the garlic bread as a starter and that was really nice. My main course selection was the lamb cutlets with vegetables and this was a very enjoyable meal, the tzatziki dip was a nice touch. My wife had porterhouse steak and unfortunately this was a letdown, it was cold and whilst meant to be "medium / rare" it was almost "well done."

We arrived just after 6:00 pm and whilst not crowded it was clear that the wait time for meals was stretching out, we had significant wait times for our meals. By the time we left there was sign on the counter saying the wait time for meals was 40 to 60 minutes. There were only two staff members in the kitchen (which could be seen) and clearly they were swamped, a reflection of Covid staff shortages perhaps.

I think it would be helpful if the GSI management had a session with their staff about a smile, a cheery "hello" and "Welcome to The Great Southern Inn." A good initial impression and then friendly service during the visit can make a huge difference and unfortunately this was missing.

Given the GSI appears to be the only bistro type venue in town at the moment, they are going to have to lift their game when the newly refurbished Australia Hotel...

If you are in Eden and looking for a good value pub meal then you cannot go past the Great Southern Restaurant, great meals and good value, sit out on the deck and enjoy a great view of the Ocean, staff were very friendly. Lunch and dinner were excellent - they have a very large restaurant and a friendly public bar. ||||The room is clean & comfortable and have own shower and toilet. ||||The food was cooked perfectly and meals are large. There are beautiful views if you are enjoying your meal from the deck and can bump into some friendly locals. But what I liked most was the exceptional local staff||||Locals were fun to talk to and approachable, and I had a great night passing through.||||You will find 27 high quality pictures of the hotel, restaurant, meals in my gallery including pictures of menu card as well.||||Thank you to everyone for looking after me and making me all feel at home. Great food, amenities and service from all the staff. If you're going through Eden, and you need a comfy bed and a good meal, look...

Inadvertently wandered in here for lunch on Melbourne Cup. They had a special menu for the occassion - we ordered the lamb cutlets and fillet mignon, both of which were cooked perfectly. The madeira jus was delightful and the accompanying vegetables complemented the meat well. For dessert we had the sticky date and passionfruit cheesecake, both of which were enjoyable. The accompanying tea and coffee weren't too bad, considering a pub is generally not the place one thinks to go if they're hankering for a good hot beverage. The staff were friendly and engaging and the service was prompt. Overall, I had a delightful meal and was a little disappointed that it wasn't more crowded - not that I would have personally preferred more people but that there weren't more people there to appreciate a good feed.

Visiting Eden and just happened to get a park out the front (parking is available at the rear). So we decided to have lunch. Warm and inviting ambiance and the open fire in the bar was nice to take the edge off the chill. Moved into the bistro and we ordered some Oysters natural to start and then we added some Calamari with prawns and some fish n chips (flathead) and it was very enjoyable. Great views and in saying that the staff were all great. If you are in Eden and hungry here’s where to go.
