The food is A1. Forget any Banh Mi recommendations from the usual hotspots, the ones here are absolutely brilliant. Have them once and everything is second rate.
The cooked food is sensational too. On a cold day you have to try the Wonton Noodle Soup. The broth is the best I’ve had and the wontons together with the noodles and veggies is a meal in itself. I crave it on a cold day.
The Honey Chicken is in a class of its own as is their Vermicelli Noodle Spring Roll bowl. Hard to beat.

Read moreWe discovered this great Malaysian street food cafe as one of the few places on our usual Gisborne cafe strip open on Good Friday. Great value and excellent food. Any of the salt and pepper dishes are not only delicious but very generously sized. The roti bread and delicious curried satay sauce are fabulous just as a snack. The Pho is excellent and the Nasi Gorengs tasty and great value. Even the (Japanese) green tea is exceptional. Whilst we chose here is an alternative to our regular haunts, we’ll be going back often. Read moreI have eaten so much Asian food in different parts of Asia in my 5 years of stay there - Saigon Yame easily matches up and even beats the best of the best that I have had there. So fresh, no readymade spices or sauces or mixes, hot off the pot, and fresh chicken, beef, seafood that we had. We were four of us - had the Teh Tarik, Roti with Chicken curry, Nasi Lemak with Beef Rendang and couple of styles of the Nasi Goreng.
