The Three Little Pigs: A Family-Friendly Gem in Gisborne
"The Three Little Pigs" in Gisborne stands out as a delightful cafe, particularly for families with young children. It successfully combines a welcoming atmosphere with delicious food and a dedicated play area.
Key Strengths:
Family-Focused: The cafe's most prominent feature is its well-equipped children's play area, which keeps kids entertained while parents enjoy their meals. This is a major draw for families seeking a relaxed dining experience. They also provide a dedicated kids menu, which is great for the little ones. Quality Food and Coffee: The menu offers a range of classic brunch and lunch options, with great and fresh food quality. The coffee is also consistently great, try the almond capuchino and you will be delighted! Welcoming Atmosphere: The cafe is bright, spacious, and welcoming, creating a comfortable environment for early Sunday's breakfast Convenient Location: Gisborne its self is a lovely location, and the cafe is situated well.
Things to Consider:
Potential for Noise: As with any family-friendly establishment, the play area can generate noise, so it might not be the quietest dining experience.
Overall:
"The Three Little Pigs" is highly recommended for families visiting Gisborne. Its combination of delicious food, quality coffee, and a fantastic play area makes it a standout destination. If you're looking for a place where both adults and children can enjoy themselves, this cafe is definitely...
Read moreA breakfast staple venue for Gisborne. If you come at popular times worth making a booking ahead especially groups. Has inside and outside eating area. Order and pay at front counter. Good coffee. Never had a bad coffee here after many many times. Todays breakfast was a tad down on their usual high standard. Bacon was nicely pre-cooked but obviously in a bay marie or similar awaiting dishing up as it was not overly hot and was in fact hard to cut. Definitely not fresh off the hotplate. Likewise the poached eggs. Poached a bit too long with yolk half set and not as soft or hot as straight out of water. Not big issues but lesser quality today as opposed to usually delivered. Toddler play area at back of cafe. Very popular venue for mothers and young kids/babies. Staff are friendly and engaging. Food ordered at counter and read back to ensure correctness. Good and extensive menu for breaky and lunch. Prices reasonable and vegetarian options available. Even though it was busy food delivered within appropriate time. Good place also for a simple coffee and snack as they have a pretty good selection of biscuuts cakes muffins and slices. High chairs available. Will be back again as one egg bacon issue does not detract from the consistent quality usually delivered. Milk shakes come in spider glass and the remainder in an aluminimum milk shaker and they are great. Give the place a go if...
Read moreI used to visit this cafe for 5 + years - primarily for the Gisborne Markets with 3 x extended family from Albert Park (I'm Sunbury).
There was a hilarious late 40s-maybe early 50's lady from the coffee/food counter. Seriously, you need wit and a sense of humour to cope with the markets influx of non-locals.
Since then things have changed - Boo Covid!
As a regular repeat customer with 3 extra friends for lunch on a Wednesday after a 40min hike, two members left hungry due to waiting/needing to get back to south eastern suburbs.
Next visit my Aunt, Uncle & cousin sat outside. A young staff member cleared the table asking how our meals were. We explained that we had ordered coffee only as food was going to be 40mins plus.
The teenage staff were too busy chatting to clean tables, engage with customers to see if they needed anything.
I tried 3 little pigs again in May this year - just coffee. Unfortunately it was almost a throw away for myself and my friend who was taking AWFL photos.
I'm not asking for a refund, just a consideration of one super experienced Hospitality staff member to...
